the ball park may be the most expensive part
Here in Korat a house like that in a moderate moo baan would sell for about a million baht.
That's a fair ball park estimate, though it depends on the size of the land.
I imagine you are talking about the land and the house.
The million baht figure is for a very small lot and for a house with inexpensive fixtures. Obviously, you can go way up from there.

That one cost me 1.29million.
58 sq wah.
Adding a kitchen onto the back of it at the moment.
Looks a bit better quality than the one I was citing for a million. Yours is nicely finished. Where is it?Quote:

Very pleased with the place too.
Prices have started to rise over the last year or so, but can't see them soaring too much, very competitive builders and far too much available land within 15 kms of the city.
We got a lovely swimming pool, gym and tennis courts in the village too.
I suppose I should have guessed the location from your nick...Quote:

What exactly were you thrown by Doc??
I think his computer clock is off, making him think you were in a different time zone than Chiangmai....
Costs will vary greatly depending on quality of fittings, etc.
Our four bedroom house costs 9.5 million not including land
but including pool and furniture and every room is teak lined
I would guess that a house which looks identical to ours from the outside but has poor quality fittings and less teak would be half that price
You rich bastard you.
:(
Wouldn't get the land for that price in Bangkok!Quote:

I think the land up here, where I am is a bout 9,000 baht a square wah, was 7,900 when we bought it.
Hopefully the new kitchen area will add value too.
So you bought a house without a kitchen?
Half right thereQuote:

Not quite Memock.Quote:

Thai cooking, being rather pungent should probably be made seperately and as we don't use the back part of the garden for anything, we decided to extend.
no Buddhai, my computer clock is fineQuote:

blimey, explaining jokes gets tedious doanit?
yes, in central CM (old city) it is B35,000 and up
Sorry Doc, but hardly your best material in my opinion.Quote:

Though humour is in the head of the beholder I guess.
well, can't be on top form all the time
sorry
It's not uncommon for houses and condos to be built without the kitchen being finished. That way you can add fixtures that meet your needs.Quote:

Did exactly the same thing myself.Quote:

Hey CMN convert it to seppo language and tell me about how many square feet your house is.
Don't know... I think it's 220 odd square metres though.
Does that make it about 660 square feet??
nope CMN, it would be about 10x sqm, so 2200sqft
Maths, is one of my not very strong points Randy.
I'm going with straight metres rather than square ones I guess.
:bunny3:
Are you building an indoor or outdoor kitchen?
We've got an indoor bit, for the microwave, toaster etc... and then an outdoor bit for the cooking. Works quite well.
We are building an indoor one, leading off from what is now the dining room.
Gets a bit wet up here in a couple of months time, pretty squally too, I'm also paranoid about rodents and snakes.
Well, the outdoor bit is kinda half in and half out, but it gets a good breeze through, so it doesn't get too hot or smelly.
CMN i've seen your place, it's on about maybe 50 sq wa (~200sq m or 2200 sq ft) and the house is about 1000 - 1100 Sq ft. (100 sq m 25 sq wa) nice house really. Think you got a great deal. In an almost coutry setting but close to it all.Quote:

I live in the bloody place but you know more about it thatn i do.
We actually paid for a 50 sq wah plot.
Unfortunately it was an estimate (rip off) whichever way you look at it and we ended up paying an extra 7,000 baht per sq wah over 50 sq wah, can't remember exactly how much over as it was at a time when money was pouring through me and I was all pissed off.
Will check the deeds later, but you might be right.
It might be closer to 53 sq wah.
Your house look great CMN :) Anyone out there with experience building in central Thailand (outside BKK)
Also how many wa to acres/ acres to wa???
2.5 rai ~= 1 acre
.40 acre ~= 1 rai
1 rai = 400 Sq wa
1 sq wa ~= 4 sq m
1 sq m ~=10.8 sq ft
Cheers frank !Quote:
