Why can it not be so on TD?
Oh joy. This one again...
Got to agree with the OP, posting pics here is a pain in the ass.
Every forum I'm on I have to upload to Photobucket first and then into the thread, TD is no different...
Why can't uploading photos to ones post be simple on TD?
it is.
most forums don't allow posting pics as attachments directly from the pc.
why is that?
is it something to do with security or something?
^
Yes . It can contain an embedded virus
You have never done a thread to warrant pictures have you ? :)Quote:

It is possible to upload pics directly into posts in vBulletin, but it tends to slows the pages down a lot compared to just having links to pics in a gallery like on TD. And the option I'm aware of displays the uploaded pics as thumbnails like below:

Never thought of the virus problem pointed out by Thetyim.
I think the gallery here works a treat, and a great place to store pics rather some crappy photobucket or the like. I guess you've seen the step-by-step guide here - https://teakdoor.com/how-to-use-stuff...with-pics.html
I can upload to the gallery but when I C&P the URL even though I delete the double http:// it still comes up as a non pic square icon! Aghhhhhhhhhhh.
Its easy when you know how :) only taken me a year or so
^^
you need to left click on the little postcard icon in the message box.
insert the url there.
Its easy - if this old git can do it anyone can, patience and persiverance is the byword. Says me - as I still can't get the demo mode off me new car radio after 3 weeks
uploading attachments is the weakest point on security for a forum.Quote:

I'd have thought they were scrubbed before being allowed into the gallery. Maybe that's why it takes so long. Either that or my 115 kps connection. :(
 Me neither. If anyone is over HK way feel free to drop in and show me how it's done and I'll buy you dinner.every pic I upload I can do it to the gallery but posting the URL comes up as a little square.
Bloody annoying.I green the comupter experts who assist me :) Here I'll have another go at posting photos.See what happens.https://teakdoor.com/Gallery/albums/u...l_momo8too.jpg
Whoa success!!! I think the other pics were a different file format.

OK I've got it now, check out my blog.
Now come on, that's not very fair, i posted a trip report from the safari park, my only ever thread to make your newsletter and if i remember you even greened me with the comment "lots to bbq there", and i also remember posting pics of Thai girls in various states of undress in their Santa costumes round about Xmas time.:)
The weakest part is that there is no batch mode. If you have 15 photos to upload you have to select them one by one and then put them in to albums one by one. I realize this is a function of Coppermine, but it is a little tedious.
that being an understatement...Quote:

it is, but it's also a bit slow and clunky to up into your gallery.
once there, it's a piece of piddle and works well.
While you are all in 'help' mode, tell me an easy way to reduce the size of my pics from the present 1.2Mb each.
Is 4 - 500 Kb ok to post?
open microsoft picture manager, select all the pics you want, select options, compress, and then choose amount of compression. save.Quote:

its not really that hard LD, just a bit of a chore if you have a lot of pics to upload.
which part are you stuck on?
probably a bit too big, resize them down to 800 by 600, this will bring them under 100kb each.Quote:

each time you click on your photos they get bigger.
