How long did your 'newbie novelty' last?
The novelty of working in Mc D's would be breif I fear... Super size smeg
I've been here for almost 2 years now, smeg, and have to agree! Thailand is bladdy great! ~ though I don't agree about the cheap everything bit...Quote:

Thailand is ok, but if I was rich I wouldn't bother living here, July August would be UK time, then slowly drift across europe keeping up with the sun, than hit Florida for the winter, yep I could keep that up for a few years without getting bored :)
I dont know what to make of you smeg. You spend years lambasting the Kingdom and the Tefl industry yet you are here and seem to be happy enough. Maybe your focus is out of whack mate.
It is one thing to not be happy with your lot in life and quite another to be chasing rainbows.
I been back in Thailand for just 7 weeks and I aint had a bad day yet.
That dont mean that it aint gonna happen but from my perspective I would rather be here than the UK or Australia.
Yep, I think Thailand is brilliant.:)
Thailand's great for those who've already been through ups and downs of life, unlike Smeg I'm afraid.
Sorry Smegster but its true. I used to think given a chance you'd prove that you're a sound chap but unfortunately you ain't. This board has given you enough time to show your bright side but I think you ain't got one.
Get a life mate.
I think that's spot on macha.Quote:

Life didn't go to plan, it went kawoomf, I lived in turkey, then Germany and only came here cos a friend from Turkey was in bangkok.
I came expecting not a lot.
I have loved most every day since.
I arrived more than 5 years ago.

Living in Fenerbahce on the Asian side of the bosphorus and working on the European side in Taksim square.
Cross continental commuting is a bloody thing.
Hard work but memorable and i miss lots of stuff about it.
Happier here mind you.
11 years in Tokyo for me before my move here - and although I treasure the time I spent in Tokyo, the pace of life, and the standard of living here is better. I also appreciate the way Thais look at life - having a laugh is a must do in society..
I am in a unique situation of working in Thailand, but not dealing with Thais at all during my work day (except for a few motorsai guys), as I work among the huge japanese expat community here in bangers (100,000). I feel lucky to be able to do this as it keeps my japanese language skills from going rusty, and allows me enjoy thailand from a different perspective than otter farangs....
I have never had a problem ANY Thai person in the 2 years I have lived here :) .... yup, everthing is just dandy on this end ;)
evet, Istambul was a dream, drove up from Ankara, stayed @ Taksim sq. and covered what one can in a week of such an historically rich environment from Dolmabace to Aya Sofia, Topkape etc. Istambul had no bridge over to EU side at the time, ferry only!
The andvantage of living in Ankara was that it's "central" and and nearish to most archeo digs and most sites are but a short drive away like Pamukale, Gordium, Izmir, Kushadasi and many more..
Posting at TD keeps my English language skills from going rusty, and allows me enjoy thailand from a different perspective than otter farangs....Quote:

Nah, but it's pretty sad, and as you'll see from the pic above your post, they'll go to some lengths to try to make themselves feel better.
A distinct difference has appeared between two groups of posters since I arrived on this site. Most seem to accept freedom of speech by either discussing with me or ignoring me, and then there is the fragile ego'd group, who take my general comments about TEFLers directly to heart (which immediately links them to the criticisms) and fire off personal insults at me to try toscare me away from the forum. This is a typical moth to the flame case, but I don't get the need to try to inject your non-lethal moth venom into the flame, other than in a bitter and futile attempt at revenge. They prefer this abrasive approach to simply using their ignore function, which goes back to their CHAV roots.
It's interesting that nearly all attacks come from i) TEFL course salesmen facing an uphill struggle as it is ii) TEFLers who are now working in their last resort job,and iii) Illegal immigrant(s) working as personal tutors but with bugger-all worthy qualifications other than a white face.
Problem is Smeg, whenever I come across one of your posts, I forget what the fucking thread was about.
It's all the same shite and is rapidly losing it's whateverness.
Try exercising your freedom of speech about something other thatn fuking TEFL and salesmen and Ken, or at least confine it to a single thread.
Try not to infect the "cheeses of Wales" or the "Which fly do you find most attractive" thread with your awful diatribe.
Ever thought about taking up yoga, smeggy? Meditation, perhaps? :)
CMN, its no fucking problem, as u have an ignore function on here. Now't more needed to be said on that, I'd hope. Or are u one of the moths referred to in my previous post?
