Phuket Shark Point scuba diving video.
Ive dived with the whale sharks at Chumphon pinnacle Koh Tao and its an awesome experience .
^
Nice stuff DD.
The good news is that one can now do live aboard snorkeling trips to the Similan Island's out of koh lak. Much of this stuff can be seen at relatively shallow depths and I suggest that some of you fellas give it a crack, as to live in Thailand and not experience this stuff is foking madness.
I hope to be doing a live aboard dive trip in April, I'll crank up a picture thread of these incredible Islands as they are national park territory, truly unspoilt with incredibly clear and clean water in season.
These Islands are known as world class, the specie of marine life very diverse and I'm looking forward to revisiting these Islands.
Check this sight for snorkeling tours.

YouTube - Octopus Swimming - Poetry In Motion!
Octopus tend to lurk in holes in the coral reef, squeezing their incredibly flexible bodies into the smallest places. This one, however, decided to go for a run across the reef. Check out the incredible colour changes and the beautiful way its body flows as it moves. Mesmerising stuff. This clip was filmed at Koh Haa, a dive site near Koh Lanta in Thailand.

Koh Haa Yai is a huge rock which has been hollowed out inside. It's possible to scuba dive inside it - it's so big it's like floating inside a cathedral. You can even surface in a airpocket at the top
YouTube - Manta Rays at Hin Daeng 20th Feb '08
This really is the time of the year for the big stuff, with yet more Manta Rays cruising around Hin Daeng, south of Ko Lanta. This Manta was around 6m from wingtip to wingtip and stayed with us for the whole dive.
I imagine you felched these vids of " You Tube " DD and weren't there yourself.
Of course I did, never scuba dived in the sea unfortunetly, broke a bone in my foot about 20 years ago and it hurts too much to use fins :(
^
Foking bummer dude, as this stuff is at your finger tips.
You can still snorkel with out fins so its not all shit sandwiches.
YouTube - Cuttlefish Face Off!
This cuttlefish is telling the angelfish that keeps bothering it to back off in no uncertain terms. A brilliant moment of marine life behaviour filmed at Koh Haa, a dive site near Koh Lanta in Thailand.
When I worked in Koh samui 17 years ago, we used to take dive boats up to koh tao.
We paid a Thai fisherman to take us out and show up Chumporn pinnacles cos it was hard to find.
We then buoyed it.
Don't think I ever dived there after that, hated Samui, went back to phuket.
Haven't set food on Samui since, wankers.

On the 4th of May 1997, the King Cruiser, a 85 mtr car ferry ran aground on a reef. It tore a large hole in the vessels hull and sunk in 17 mins. It now lies in 30mtrs water and has now become a great artificial reef.

Diving trip to Phuket Islands

Cave Diving ThailandThose who joined the trip came from a variety of destinations. One person in particular came from South West Asutralia, Ian, who flew all the way up to Thailand just for the course. He left enough room for a couple of nights on Koh Tao and quickly rushed back to far edge of the world. Also joining us was Trevor from Sai Ree Cottage who combined this event with the completion of his technical diver course conducted by Matt Rolph. And last but not least was Dive Medic Cum Dive Instructor Sonia Scott who came from Khao Lak (west coast of thailand) for a completely different type of diving.
The course began with a academic session, albeit not the most thrilling of things to endure but all the same quite necessary to cover cave formations, water sources, currents, equipment considerations and line usage. After a few hours break and waiting for the sun to calm down we moved in the woods for reel and line work practicing primary tie offs, secondary tie offs and placements. It was also a intruduction to the proper way to handle a reel. As the beers added up many found they didnt need the tapped up mask to have trouble seeing but by that time it was simply extra practice. As the night set the compressor was switched on to give some extra top ups and then in the taxi and off into town for dinner. This would be an early night as many were a bit weary from the travel to Khao Sok.
The following morning we up early, breakfast and coffee and down to the peir before the sun could really attack us. Out on the longtail for the 45 minute drive through the park to the first cave system. unlike normal boat rides, the spray from the water was refreshing as it was fresh water. The first dives of the day would be about finning or proulsion techniques, out of air drills, blacked out mask skills and touch contact. This course would be conducted to NSS-CDS standards for cavern diver allowing the progression of skills after the cavern course so these individuals could progress on to cave levels in the future.
This would be the only day for Trevor, returning to the hotel he received the news his wife was going into labour with his first son. Trevor will later complete his training but for not congratulations were all amazed you made it in time.
The days continued without him and everyone else completed the course. The last day was stricly fun diving and practicing skills. Matt would drop below the canopy for some depth exploration (had all that tech gear and no one to use it) and was supported above the canopy. Surprisingly he only found 50m but it was crystal clear, next time well explore away from the rock face and try to hit 100m which we all imagine will be f*cking dark and f*cking cold, quoting Matt himself.

Tin Miner Wreck
This virtually unkown site is, as it's name suggests, the wreck of a tin mining platform. Not to be confused with the Boon Sung wreck off the coast of Koh Lak, this wreck is less than 1ki off Surin Beach on the NW coast of Phuket Island.
