Chinese New Year, what would it take to kill your neighbor?
Not much :(
I thought it's tomorow?
You tell the Thais and drunken moron farangs that fabian :(
It's a little like Songkran. Starts two days early and ends a day late. Any excuse to make a lot of noise. But you are right it is 7 Feb.Quote:

Firecrackers at 8am are offensive... I'd rather be called a Farang.
Last year my f*ckin neighbours - Thais , not Chinese - set off such a barrage of firecrackers that 2of my breeding songbirds had heart attacks and died !!!
Tonight they did it again - none died but they panicked and a new one that was in the "getting to know" you cage ( one I put new birds in close to the aviary so they can get used to each other without contact /aggression) went apeshit.
Hit the cage ( a normal rattan local thing) so hard the bars bent and he was away!!!
Have been waiting to get one of those - Blue eared Barbet - for a long time to breed from !
:tantrum:
:fire: Neighbours!!!
I have to admit i was tempted to shoot at the morons today, they got fireworks spraying all over my car and i was just getting more annoyed, I mean these twats weren't even chinks, one was a farang.
Do you really need an excuse to kill a Chink?
Its midnight...they're starting here....fuck!!!!!
Same here!
Have all the birds indoors in a quiet room until tomorrow.
Luckily they are nearly all "hand trained" and were easy to catch and cage!
The watercock was something different though !
F*ckinell! their beaks are sharp - glad I'm not a little fish or a tadpole !
Earplugs - so essential to living in Thailand.
And one of these:

Happy CNY everyone.
Off work today and tomorrow :)
I think they already eat rats. It's where they get their morals from.Quote:

Our village had a Chinese temple. All the farangs who lived near it moved out for a week. Couldn't go anywhere on Samui that was quiet -- most Samuians came from Hainan in the 1800s. Sure, lots of good luck pieces of paper written in characters over doors, but none of these folks can even say hello in Chinese.
Anyway, my dogs went schizoid with the fireworks. Hid under the bed, peed all over, hearts racing, howling...drove me batty.
^ Tell me about it Jet. The idiots are letting firecrackers off at 5am here. That's bad enough, but then it starts my 30 house residents barking & howling. They shut up as soon as I go out to them, but as you can imagine, I've not had much sleep the past couple of nights. I'm up & down to quieten the dogs down quite a lot due to the 'festivities'. :(
The only place I have ever seen real firecrackers was in Pattaya on New Years Eve this year. Every semi-civilised country has banned them a long time ago.

The rats are drowned and sold uncooked or ready to eat......."It's tastier than other meats - nothing can compete with rat," ......poached, fried, grilled or baked............Mr Prompim says he sells as much as 100kg of rat meat on some days.

Stewed Rat
Skin and eviscerate the rat and split it lengthwise. Fry until brown in a mixture of butter and peanut oil. Cover with water, add tomatoes or tomato purée, hot red peppers, and salt. Simmer the rat until tender and serve with rice.
A Rat!

If no rat use this. Same diet, nearly same taste.

I did 3 CNY in Shanghai and usually CNY is just the prelude to the bigger bang that is to come 5 or 7 nights later (?) when the "money God" arrives.
It starts at 9 and does not stop until 4-5am
Best just plan to stay up all night and drinK
On average, 40-50 people loose a digit or eye or worse - peak time in the casualty wards!!!
Nice and peaceful where I am....:)
