Personal cyber security when travelling any advice please, there's more and more scam

At home in peaceful safe backwater don't give it much concern

However travel?

My android i can lock, however can thieves get passwords etc via the sim, my data card is basically just music pix no bank stuff or password.

Over years stuff sems to have been stored by clou, samsung, apple and google.

As for passwords I recall Fry on QI logical advice, write not on macine of couse nor mobile but a oiece of paper

I used to think sendind such stuff as in line data in Euskera will deter most but with AI translation ?

You can see how quick some AI or googe translate hacks this revalving item

Ive got a master password manager and leave paper with partner

Any tips apps apprecited I'm prpared to pay for proven apps not concerned odd ad or 'light spam' as will delete once home

I do have 2 cellphones one I use local sim
My Thai one I leave in hotel friens/family house when out on the lash as re registering and Thai banks is such hassle
If II lose my SFR French sim like uk walk in shop $1-0 clams get new one, no registration.

At home I dont answer unknown numbers but half a dozen fights hotels youve sent your number makes this tricky of course with time can google number and if it says Deutsche Bahn , Hilton Brno, or Virgin Trains or Air France easy

At least let the Thai fuck it up first..

Given that you type in permanent code any hackers will be stopped dead in their tracks once they hack your email.

Lock your phone with biometrics
Use 2FA on all email accounts
Don't open links you don't know
Don't install apps from unknown sources.

It's not rocket science really.

Get proper security software installed on all your devices.

Generally a waste of money.

Most of it is signature based and there are too many new signatures every single day.

Plus a lot it is stealth now.

No, it is not. Windows security is just fine and consumes the least resources, which is especially key when so many on here have aging, old devices.

I also use biometric lock to samsung secure folder.

All bank related stuff requires laptop and mobile to be used together. I don't have single mobile app for money transfers.

I have a bank that wants to move to its app for the 2fa as it is depreciating the separate device and will not replace it when the battery finally dies.

I have been looking at the blackview 6000 phone to use only for the bank and maybe the aust govt app because it is small and has a fingerprint reader which can be used for authentication.

Overkill really.

If you have a locked phone with biometrics and 2FA on the app, that suffices.

Oh, and have a 'daily' account with chump change in it so even someone does get in there's not a shitload they can nick.

And use transfer limits judiciously.

That is where you are wrong. Once you set everything up properly, it is relatively seamless, leaving yourself openly exposed to a myriad of web threats is a fool's errand, especially if you bank on a mobile device (Which I would not recommend).

I always have my bank cards in a RFID wallet, I'm not to worried about my phone you can always freeze your cards using the relevant app linked to your card .Then unfreeze when you need to use them.

And the n6000 was released in June 2023

Notebook check has its usual thorough review and it's downside is it's camera which is not a concern and lack of android security patches which is a slight concern

Not when you live in the sticks far from offices where you pay bills and do your banking. I have setup phone with all the protection available for Android so feel as safe as I can be using on line banking.

I have a minimal trust in android and its app sandboxing which is why I want a separate phone to use only for the banking and government identity apps and then WiFi connect it to my normal phone when it requires internet connectivity
