Still decent money for cleaners and dish-washers, ask Boon Mee.

It's a cock-eat-cock world out there, survival of the fittest and all.

They prefer boys, I've heard.
So true Sir Burr,
But Im not sitting out in the middle of the ocean or a desert for weeks at a time doing fly in fly out work away from family, friends and civilization either. :)
Thats the only reason you guys get the big money, but you pay a price for that don't you.
Us Perth firefighters are doing very nicely thank you and Ill just keep driving around in my fire engine and coming home at night whilst you are thinking about getting home to your family but cannot.
Then you are shit out of luck mate...;)Quote:

No mate I dont have any poms here and if I did they most probably wouldnt last long. But saying that getting a job being crewed out of your home country I would say they would prefur ex forces. I think it help me get my first break and held me in good stead for all the abuse I had to cop when I startedQuote:

Most of the offshore guys I know in Phuket retire by about age 50-55 it seems.
Well let's see I am a Electrician, I am in pretty good shape ,I am ex service and I am in Iraq right now ,being away from home for long periods of time. I can mostly spell:) But I think I can pretend either way.
The Offshore Bar?
No. I live a quietish life in Chalong. Mostly go out to Chalong and Rawai.
If I go to Patong, there are far better places than Nanai.
You need to be an industrial sparky with experience in hazardous area installation and very skilled at fault finding .Quote:

After all is said and done thats why these guys do this job so that they can earn a shite load of money and retire early.
The smart ones do just that and the Gumbies piss it all up against the wall.
No idea what a "gumbie" is but i got a feeling Rigger might be in training for it:rofl:Quote:

If one did not have anything to come back to except a bank full of money they could fall into the old trap of working for weeks at a time with no beer , woman or outlets and then spend the off time getting pissed up every night and end up drinking themselves to death.
It can be a trap for the younger guys but the fellas who have a home and family to support them do extremely well and Ive seen both sides to this industry.
