Started playing when I was seven or eight y o.
Dad had a bar where I folded a pizza box to earn 1 cent, so folded 100 to get 4 quarters = 4 games (at that time).

Don't mind the odd game of Pool,or on the full size table ,a game of Snooker.
Like the full size,different style,lot of people are hopeless on it after just playing Pool.
I am lucky in that i can play with either hand,good for getting out of tight spots.
Most parts of the world have tables,great way to socialise with locals,just have to pick the venue,not hard to see if dickheads are playing and being morons,give it a miss.

I played snooker with a guy in my wife's village and was behind 14 or 15 points when we were down to only the pink and black. So a foul shot from him from one snooker was required, yes?
Nope, according to village rules, the game is over when down to the pink and black and the player losing is trailing by 14 points or more.

So true. A lot of pros mastered snooker BEFORE moving on to 8/9 ball, as I understand it. Makes sense. Proper snooker on a full-size with the extra long cues is a beast, imo.Quote:

In Bangkok where I've played, they all play these fukkin german rules where you have to explain every shot. That's no fun when 50% of your game revolves around flukes and hit and hopes.
Then there's the cheating bar girls who come and molest you when it's your shot.
Me and my brother had one of those cheap 6ft pool tables as young teens. The balls would always roll to one side, so we got fed up of that and made our own game up where when you missed you had to stick your willy in one of the pockets. That's why I hang to the left I reckon

I learnt snooker and billiards on a full size table. We also played cowboys & indians and a game, whose name I have long forgotten. It was a cross between billiards and snooker. Players have their own cue ball and colours are on their spots but no reds. Can pocket any colour and cannon similar to billiards but cannot touch the black ball. A foul means losing all point on that break and hitting the black means losing all points. First to 100 wins. Anyone know the name of the game?
I played pool on UK and US tables for years, some amateur competitions but mainly for pints. I have managed to stay on the table all night a few times, more by luck than judgement...a totally misspent youth, many would say. Nowadays, I can't see the bloody cue ball let alone the object ball so luck has run out.

We make it out the door as several squad cars arrive. They detain us and start asking questions. Other cops go in in the bar. They get many sides of the story. I tell the truth and my dad backs me up on this.
Turns out the guy had so many friends because he was the manager of the bar. Cops say it looks like I broke his nose. I say self defense. Cops say the guy doesn't want to press charges on me breaking his nose. Again I say self defense. Cops tell us we can go but the bar manager never wants us to return.
Some things you just never forget I guess. Looking back what I wouldn't give, and I got a lot, to do it all over again.
As for beating me with one hand I can take care of that myself thank you very much.

Thinking back it was at a place called "The Shelter" as in shelter from the storm by Bob Dylan.
The Road House was kitty corner to it and across the street from the Headquarters. These were as far north and west as you could be and still be in Milwaukee county. The old "Headquarters " before they tore it down and widened the road was a real blast.
Even back then we yearned for the old headquarters as it lost it's patina after it was rebuilt.

They take such good care of your...errrr,...ehmmm...balls.
Also, full-time pool hall hookers can make for good competition, especially if you can ignore the obvious distraction-techniques.

Pool tables are a good way for gals to show off their wares to obvious punters, however there may be repercussions or wrathful vengeance if you consistently push them off their show piece table(s) by smoking their asses with consistency.
Not seen a lot now in the UK but a good pub game.... Bar Billiards.
