Sloppy Joes are an American thing. In their worst form served in school cafeterias. At home a product people commonly use is called Manwich to make them. Never seen them served inside grilled cheese sandwiches like that before. Normally we use a hamburger bun.
I don't like Sloppy Joes that much but might try my own variation of this at some point. Then again it looks like I could just take a portion of chilli out of the the freezer and approximate the same thing with minimal effort. This recipe for me is all about the toasted bread and the cheese and peppers.
