A close call?

So just thought I'd share as I don't usually but had a couple of brews tonight.
Anyway. Yesterday afternoon I find myself in a complete fog. Call the wife, help, come home, help me.
She gets home, the house is flooded and I'm sitting at the dining room table soaking wet and out of it.
The toilet had got blocked somehow further down than the bathroom floor drain and flooded the house and when the tiles here are wet they're like ice.
I'd obviously slipped and cracked my head on the floor. (big dent in the skull).
Remembered enough to call the missus but when she arrived I was in a complete fog. Repeating questions and asking things like whose bike is that and when did we buy it, do I have a job? Why aren't I at work and walked into my sons room and asked whose room is this? We have son?
A VERY weird sensation I can still recall. I mean wow, that sort of memory loss is WEIRD.
It wore off over a couple of hours though today I've had little moments, I'm right as rain now (well right as I ever was).
It was very odd things not being clear.
Went to the hospital and got a CT scan and all clear. Mild concussion, but man it was scary and just goes to show you just never know what's around the corner. A couple of centimeters this way or that and I perhaps could have died.
I remember having many vivid dreams but not what they were about.
The water had seeped right up and all over my clothes so I'd obviously been out a while.
Be thankful for your life and health and love those around you while you can. It could all be over in a flash even though we all know it'll all be over eventually you just never know.
That was the weirdest thing I have ever experienced.

I am glad to hear that you survived the accident, we don't want you to die on us, take it easy now .
Has your wife found out that you are giving out your bank details to other women on here or has Za forgotten that.

Here's something odd. My stomach muscles ache as though I'd done all the sit-ups I could then did 200 more.

You are right you never know what's round the corner

I'd be more than a little concerned, obviously you've been concussed and there's always a chance things can go wrong for some time after such events, as your Doctor would have surely advised you. The stomach pain will most probably be from convulsions you had while out cold, that you don't remember having.

If you're still having side - effects, it'd be way better to be safe than sorry and get a 2nd opinion.

Kinda scary reminder how close we all are to that...whatever it is...:frog:

When a child falls they get up and carry on without ill effects, when an adult falls the stomach muscles go into convulsions. An Adult falling is a serious shock to the body,it happened to me when I fell in the snow, slipped on ice, and in a split second my head was ground level, my stomach muscles went into spasms, I couldn't stop them, felt like throwing up.
As suggested you being out cold you didn't know your tummy was in shock.

DON'T FALL...

Be aware of every step you take...Canadians are advanced at this because of the slippery conditions...Winter, you say?...No, I meant in the Okanagan summers when it's 40 degrees and the sweethearts are all oiled up at the beach and you walk into oncoming traffic or over a bluff or slip on one of them as you're strolling...

Seriously, stay aware that you are getting older, and if you are less active or have been out of sports, your reactions are all in your head and out of practice...

Many elderly people break their hips and other bones when they fall...And they quite often develop complications when they're "laid up"....Often resulting in death...

If they survive they are often "fcked up" and gun-shy, ergo more vulnerable...

I remember the stories of my father...An old-time country doctor...

He could not believe how one old man survived with minimal damage when he found the broken toilet bowl that his thick old skull had smashed...

After reading that, it reminded me of Michael Schumacher, but he wasn't so
lucky, look at his life now.

My dad died in the loo, with his pants down. :( He didn't collapse because he was able to call out and my mom was able to hold him up.

A doctor-friend who visited during the funeral said that many folks with heart ailments/hypertension have an attack after peeing or pooping during early morning, because of the effort it takes for elimination.

@Cujo - glad that you're okay. As they've said, take it easy for the next few days and observe yourself. After that, maybe it's time to show some luv to your fam and take them on a holiday - to Puerto Galera perhaps?! lol Cheers and all the best to you & your loved ones. :)

As said above somewhere, get a second opinion, mate. An MRI might be a good idea too. You're not immortal and complications can occur down the track.

We keep a pair of non-slip flipflops just inside the bathroom door. Barrier against athletes foot, prevention of dirty wet footprints, and to guard against slipping.

My dad died in almost the same way, he had just got out of bed, sat on the side and keeled over. Good for him, we say. He would not have liked being back in hospital, he was at home with his wife. Where he belonged.

Cujo, get yourself checked out again. The fact that you didn't know where you were etc. is a bit concerning.

Might be better to get someone else to do the monitoring. Check the RFU website for head injury protocols.

But seriously take the advise given and if at any time you feel the least bit dizzy or disoriented sit down, for carrying on doing what you were doing could lead to another fall and that may be your last.
