In the past people would have posted questions like this only Lonely Planet, hoping to get the answer they're looking for but, as our fame spreads I guess we should expect more folks to ask the many resident experts residing here.
Randy, Bangkok is really like any major American city. You're going to love it! It's wall-to-wall KFC, MacDonalds, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Wendys, Walmart, etc. and everybody here speaks American! Yup, not just English but Good ole USofA speak.
It's a great place. We got black people driving taxis and opening doors, chinese people cooking food and doin' laundry, hell we evn got some Limey's over here to walk around funny and talk that crazy talk they do.
man, you're gonna love it here, get yer ass on that plane pronto.
