The Trial of Shehiredahitman - Verdict

The witnesses turned up to court & the jury were waiting to take their seats. A quick chat with my barrister & he told me I was looking at around three years if found guilty on both counts. Alternatively, I could plead guilty to the lesser charge & no trial.

Apparantly, nowadays you can ask a judge to tell you what sentance he is looking to dish out in return for a guilty plea. So my barrister asked the judge & he indicated he was looking at a suspended sentence.

The witnesses were home & the jury moved onto better things as I quicky snatched the old man's hand off, pleaded guilty & said I was very sorry & won't do it again, your honour.

Because the offence pre-dates some Act or other he couldn't give me a suspended sentence & gave me 100 hours unpaid work, starting tomorrow, instead.

Congratulations :) although I suppose thats one more nasty violent criminal back on the streets, did they ban you from owning spoons for any amount of time?

100 hours not bad never know what a jury will do BUT I think it was beatable. That said I would of taken the 100 hours ;)

Did the judge by any chance suggest that you make sure sheilas don't leave their mobile phone in your gaff? Suppose he just told you to pull your head in a bit right?

The judge was my new best friend. In the lecture he gave before handing down my punishment he was saying that this incident was out of character, that I must have been provoked & that sort of thing. He must have said 'it is to your credit' ten times & that he was pleased I had pleaded guilty as the first opportunity (I hadn't but I wasn't going to tell him). There were raised eyebrows when he read about the knife, though, but all in all he was, it seemed, a very wise man.

So what type of work is it you have to do unpaid? Does it mean you do whatever you do normally, but the money goes to pay the fine, or does it mean they say 'Do this job' and you have to do it for free?

Congrats on the verdict, SHAHM. Yes, please tell us about the work. Is it like a Boy George thing in NY where you have to collect rubbish or what?

Hard to be sure what they'll make me do but previously I have painted old people's homes & a bit of gardening - all for free.

Generally it decends into a bunch of moody villans smoking weed in the garden shed or sneaking off to the pub, returning mob-handed & wasted to some bewildered old person's house who was wondering where the help had gone & slapping some paint around or ripping up some weeds with half hour to go before the supervisor comes back to check on the work.

Ah, Yes. Community service. Funny, that was never offered to me in my day...
BTW never said it, but good for you. 100 hrs work and it's all over. Hope you enjoyed your time "On the Lam" few more weeks and you can get on with whatever it is you wanna get on with.

i did some community service once, ended up washing all the detectives cars every Saturday morning for a few months....

Congrats Hitman. Damn, I was looking forward to a trial and being proved right with a not guilty verdict.

Community service is a great way to avoid a fine and/or confinement. I got 140 hours in UK and ended up after 30 hrs of sweeping leaves, painting etc doing the remainder on a computer in a cushy office cos I mentioned I had computer experience, hahahaha

SheHiredAHitman can post scanned pictures in Internet forums too, probably more than a lot of civil servants. Might be something to look into.

I think hitman should consider tar and feathering the new boyfriend as his community service.

Good to see you got an acceptable result Hitman. Happy for you. Don't pay any attention to the wacko suggesting immediate retribution. If your man turns up floating in the river it is possible PC Plod MIGHT think of you.

I'd hoped to be living vicariously through 'this guy I know, in prison' and telling all sorts of stories to add to my street-cred.
