I recently watched a documentary about a group of people going through this program to kick a heroin addiction. They had people drinking an entire bucket of water and then throw it up, and other type crap, is it a scam?

Seen a doco about that place years ago.
It's not water they drink but a special blend of herbs, spices, elephant spunk, buffalo shit and katoey dead skin that makes them throw up.
The place has a good rep though.
Definitely not a scam.
I stayed 3 weeks there a couple years ago to detox the painkillers I was on.
It's an austere but very effective rapid cold turkey detox.
Not for the faint of heart.
The place is essentially free except you gotta pay for your food. They ask for donations. I flipped them 5000 baht for their trouble.
They have a couple of farangi monks, sadly the older Swiss monk passed away last year.
I read the book a few weeks ago.
I put the title up when I get back to Thailand.
