witopia, bbc iplayer and the great firewall of china
As I am moving to China in the New Year I have just installed witopia, a VPN, in order to breach the Great Firewall.
You can choose your proxy location - I chose the UK - and now I can watch BBC iplayer which is great.
It costs 59.99 USD per year (minus a 10% coupon discount I found online). Why pay?, I hear you indignantly cry, instead of using a simple proxy server? Well, these clever chinks are wise to that game and it seems the only way is to pay for a premium provider. As I say, since I can now play iplayer etc I am quite happy with it.
i cant discern any reduction in speed (in Thailand) but I will have to check what its like when there.
