A friend of mine is over from Hong Kong at the moment and told me about his day at the races a couple of weeks ago, his boss was over from Europe so they decided to go to Macau for the car racing event thay have and then onto the horse racing.

Now my mates knowlege of horses is about on par with mine, ie they have 4 legs and are big, so there he is looking at the pictures of the horses and decided to bet on the top 3 places, ie 1st 2nd and 3rd, now what are the odds of getting that right? Damn huge, he won just under 400,000baht, lucky sod :)

Thats Not #1, #2, #3, dog,,it is Win, Place, Show....good hit tho no matter what ya call it..

So what's the 250B, the amount of his bet?

I stayed at the casino till 1Am yesterday, waiting for the daily 100'000 Euro draw, but in stead i lost 200 Euro playing on the poker table...Bucharest is a nice casino spot in Europe...

Singapore will soon open one Phoenicia Casino, March or april i heard, will be some special event for the future of the region...

250 baht is the price of a beer in Wan Chai, his annual bonus this year will probably be more than I will earn in the next 10 years, should have stuck a few more baht on that bet :)

Winning 400K on a 250 baht bet is only 1600 to 1 odds...

They must have drug the nags out of the glue factory to pull those odds... :rolleyes:

some kind of tri-fecta or something where they combine the odds of the first three horses coming in the order he placed the bet divided my the amount of money in the pool and the number of betters. like the rest of yeh I know almost nothing myself but I did one of those bets after my friend won over $11,000 but I guess when I bet there were too many punters and our share was only $280

Don't know about doing well, he most likely choose the horses because of their color or names :)

I seem to be doing the reverse.. invest two million baht and end up with 250 baht!

Shares he knows nothing about at all, more than 20 years ago we both invested in a software company, we just knew that there would come a day when quite a few people would be using computers, even sometimes on a daily basis, the shares plummeted, he bailed out and sold at a loss, I held out, I just knew there would come a day that people might even have computers in their home, only fuking software company that has never boomed in the whole fuking world.
