one of our dogs went flying off the front patio yesterday, and it's only a matter of time before i do the same.
can someone recommend a clear coating which can be used on tiles that become slippery when wet?
ideally it would be something without a lot of 'grit' in it, but if that's impossible get here, so be it.

we used it successfully on boat decks. Should work on tiles.

An alternative. Depending on the size of your patio, it might be better, faster, cheaper to simply replace the tile with non slip tile.Quote:

Acid etch them, makes the tiles look crap though.

You could use clear varnish with fine sand added but it is not very hard wearing.You need to find a chandlery and buy some anti slip deck paint

if the area you walk over normally is fairly restricted, you could just do something over that bit rather than doing the whole patio

they are dangerous ,buddy i know slipped on his tiles and broke his hip ,so a long healing and now he walks with a limp .how many have killed themselves in pattaya slipping in the bathroom and bashing heads ?
Ray you might want to try this first.
At Home Pro (near their paint department) look for their “tape” isle. You’ll see masking tape,…..blue tape,...electrical tape, etc. You will also find a tape that is clear in color, with a coarse (non slip) side (it’s about 3 inches wide). It is mostly used on stairs.
It doesn’t cost too much and if it comes up once a year,…just reapply it.
No big deal (clean and simple),…………….saves the look of your tile out front, apply it in less than 10 minuets after getting home with it.
I would set the strips about 10 inches apart (maybe as wide as your front door) from the front door to the end of the porch.

They use similar stuff on the decks of ships so should be fairly durable.
'Homepro' sell anti slip adhesive tape for such a purpose. They sell two products it's expensive so I buy the cheap one. The adhesive backing is shit so once I pull off the waxed paper cover I spread, evenly, clear silicone on it and it improves the adherance. It works in our house.

I think grinding the surface, or etching the tiles, would be good too, but make it difficult to clean properly
Swap the tiles out for external non-slip tiles.
