Changing Phones - where have half my numbers gone???

Yeah yeah, I KNOW that some numbers are saved to the SIM and others are saved to the mobile itself but how come I had no say in this and is it possible to go to a phone shop and say, "Look sunshine, just put ALL my numbers in this new phone I paid 1000 baht for."

Is that possible?

I'm still in love with my old Nokia - old being no understatement as I got it second hand 3 years ago for badloi - but the cnut keeps dying on me and switching itself off, despite paying 180 baht for a new battery which doesn't last as long as the one that has been in it for three years.

You could of course, as an alternative, do what most of us would have done.
Move the SIM back to the old Nokia and do a copy of the Nokia's phonebook into the SIM.
Oh, and don't forget to move the SIM back afterwards to the new phone..

You don't even have to go into a shop to do it.
Put the sim card back in your old phone, fire it up, go to your contacts or whatever it's called and copy them all to your sim card. COCK.

Ive stolen a few of them.

If you want the numbers 7, 42, 256 (to name just a few) put £10,000 in used notes in a carrier bag and meet me on the corner of Asoke/Sukhumvit. You can identify yourself by picking up an ugly ladyboy and waiting for me while giving him a tug in broad daylight.

If you refuse to comply I'll start mailing the numbers to you in bits, imagine how painful number 07895463 will feel minus the zero.

Depends on the phone, but the most likely is to go into <MESSAGES> then look for shit like <MULTIMEDIA> or <SMS> and see if you can set it to reject, that's what I did with mine, I get none of that crap, the wife has it left on and the thing is constantly beeping with garbage. She is probably waiting for her financial adviser and personal stockbrokers reccomendations!
I suppose it makes them feel important, like they are in total communication with the outside world....but I would one of her friends to ask what the message says....she cannot read a single one as the text size is too small!

The other thing would probably be to reset it to FACTORY DEFAULT, I got ZERO messages from advertising when I first bought the phone, it was only after dicking around with the settings I began to get bothered.

I put all my numbers in an excel folder on the the computer, so if I lose the phone then at least I still have the numbers. Or scraps of paper or (my god!) an address book also come in handy.

I dont bother writing out numbers or using an execel sheet, that is soooo eighties.

most phones let you save all the numbers to your SIM card, so do that with your old phone

put the SIM card in the new phone

they are then in your new phone; you can then save all of them to your new phones memory
