Tetters: I got a Garmin GPS when i bought my MU7 and in large print in English they warned against downloading update from the internet...something about foking the system...I'll try and dig it our to see what it actually said...
It works a treat though...only problem is the map itself is in thai so you can't type anything in for directions unless of course your adept at the Thai keyboard...
Favs can be added in English of course and the voice is both thai & English...

Does yours have an SD memory card slot ?
So how did you load the Thailand map ?Quote:

Thanks, I will give it a go.Quote:

I have downloaded Thailand V8.0 map
Is that the best one to have ?
^ I keep meaning to do this for my Magellan GPS, but map availability seems to be much more limited for this. :(
Thai maps for Garman GPS with an SD slot may be purchased on an SD card directly from Garman or on Amazon.com. I have a Garman with an SD slot, purchased the Thai maps on an SD card through Garman or Amazon can't say for sure, and if functions exceptionally well. Voice directions in English and because of the model GPS I have provides street names as well. Would be lost without it. I did a quick search and I see where Garmen has discontinued the SD card. Hummmm. I'll have to look into this a little more. I'm sure there is an option though. Just need to find out what it is.
I have a Binatone X-350 running the latest tomtom maps here in the UK.
Sure it can't be that hard to do for LOS.
That why you have it, isn't it?:)Quote:

The maps are unlocked and the language glitches are explained
1. Thai address search function require Garmin Thai version and use Thai menu.
2. Choose only one language to draw map otherwise it will draw twice.
3. Unzip and rename to gmapsupp.img

I bought a Garmin 200W in the UK about 3 months ago. It has an SD card slot. When I got to Thailand I got a shop in Pantip2 to download the Thailand map and install it for me, they did everything for 800 baht. I've been using it since, and there have been no problems so far.
I saved almost 10,000 baht by buying it in the UK.
tl;dr » Installing TomTom on the Binatone X350 satnav
Have a read of The PC Tailor as well.
always wanted to buy a GPS here, great info
