Water Filter Suggestions - Itchy Skin

There ya have it. Itchy skin everytime I shower. I saw Marmers had the same problem a while back, did it ever clear up?

Anyway, here's the scenario for us in Chiang Mai: We got a well that's pumped to a holding tank then pumped from there into the house. Everyone in the house is getting itchy skin and one of us is getting a rash from it. I tried draining the tank to see if that would make any difference but it did not. So now I'm thinking the well water is the problem.

We need some kind of filter on the final stage of our water system; right before it enters the house. I've looked at UV filters, some sort of ceramic filter set up from jolly ole England, and those big torpedo like water conditioner units.

So anyone got any suggestions on the way to go? It's going to need to be big enough for an entire house so the liters/minute will need to be adequate for 2 showers+ running at the same time.

Filter might not be the answer
Have you tested your water pH ?


Our water is alkaline which gives me dry skin.
If yours is very alkaline then it could be the problem.

Just make sure that your holding tank is large enough for two showers at the same time. You can filter the water before it gets to the holding tank.

You might want to take a sample of your water to be tested by the local water works. Could be ph, microbial, or chemical. Nothing like a little PCB in your well.

it depends on what the water problem is, you need it tested

there is a specialist filter place in Chang Puak road, on the left as you head towards the super highway, past the pedestrian road bridge and uni on the right

it has all types of filters outside, incl the big blue ones

we went there and they sorted our water problem (different to yours, it was full of iron salts)
