Hi i am planning on building a house in the countryside on a plot of land near Buriram, this plot already has a large pond on it would i be better building near it or as far from it as possible in regards to the mozzies or would it not make any diference ? cheers
If there's fish in the pond they'll eat the mozzies. I wouldn't be worried about building near it.Quote:

However....depends on other vegetaion in the area as well, if it has thick dark jungle like areas, these could be the daytime hiding areas for swarms of blood suckers and then you will be in twouble.
Planting loads of lemon grass helps, mozzies hate going near it.

Bet about 1 or two gallons of 40 weight motor oil (laid conservatively on said pond's surface) would control your skeeter population.

The first thing that people ask, and when they visit me is with regard to this very same OP topic and I just tell them that the problem here is no worse than anywhere else in Thailand.
Yes there are mosquitos but far more snakes! Better to be truthful and then there will be no complaints. :)

Yep Fuzzy and the verandah across the way (next to the pool) is where I go fishing most mornings.
The wife, gardener and sometimes guards get their fair share of fresh fish most mornings. :)
