It really does amaze me how some people take such delight in and investing their time creating cyberspace viruses! :(
Must be right coonts and they could be better served spending their time posting in the issues section on Teak Door! :)
You know those chain emails you get forwarded from friends or family sometimes? The 'Warning, New Virus!' type of thing?
It has occured to me that they are the best way possible to actually spread a virus. :)
I agree that it is more unlikely that Linux computers would get infected, however, not
impossible, here is is an interesting read on the subject:
False Sense of Security
Always the same gullible PC users falling for the same old hoaxes. What's more amazing, though, is that these folks always seem unable to use Google to do a simple query into the legitimacy of the 'warning' their brothers' second cousin's wife's niece sent them.
Then again, it's a keen way the technology world has of having people identifying themselves as the kind that shouldn't have a computer.
you know its a sh1t email because the subject line has FWD: in it.
waste of bandwidth that could be much better utilised sharing burka goat porn
Yes, one of the best viruses has to be fear itself.

I got one when I visited the Jaymart mobile phone retailers website recently.
I had an antivirus running but it stealthed onto my laptop and started infecting loads of files and accessing the internet to download more. It also automatically opened windows in Firefox and IE leading to sites that sell antivirus products. It placed icons in the toolbar as well which kept issuing warnings. It was getting worse and worse!
Nothing could remove them, I tried AGV, Kaspersky, Avira and a couple of others but the viruses shut down many of the antivirus programs and stopped spyware scanners - Adaware, Malaware etc from functioning correctly.
As a last ditch attempt before reformatting my HDD I downloaded Super Anti-Spyware free version and it found and deleted most of them, allowing me to use the laptop again without irritating pop-ups or system reboots. After a couple of updates and scans it found them all.
I think it was 'Vundo.variant' that was the main culprit, but there were loads on there after it connected to the internet after the initial attack!

Does anyone ever open (among dozens of others) those Hallmark emails?
