Anyone have recent prices outside the big cities TPI, Elephant or CPAC grade for a cement driveway premixed in truck/cu ft?
about 1,500baht per cubic meter.
I think my white skin is getting me shafted, we had Elephant rep come out and recommended 160 steng for 1700 baht / cubic meter. There plant is 5 kilometers from my house.
Just guessing as to why. If you ask them (or your wife) they will tell you it's the mixture/ratio of concrete that they will use for you.

Will come out to about the same price as buying the aggregate and cement and paying to have it hand mixed by Thai workers, and if you do that every load they hand mix will be different and some to rich and most to damn wet and lean and no to will have anywhere the same slump, bad enough to depend on conformity in transit mix here.
So you will have better quality product and save the time/price and headaches of the Thai fucking up the mix.
I agree the extra money means nothing to me its just the principle of getting screwed over because I'm a rich Falang. I'm going to use them despite the rip off because the difference is only about 1500 baht and they are near me. the nearest competitor TPI is 50 kms away and if we run short it will be a long w8 for more cement.
Anything over 20km usually involves a surcharge.
I had my patio concreted earlier this year. I needed to get two small truck loads as acess was a problem. It took days to find a small truck.
When I did they quoted a better price than the Big companies. I wondered how this was possible
The concrete that was delivered looked like it had a lot of sand in it!! Beware.
It poured and set without any problems??

I have been to CPAC here and watched them batch it and they do not run on automatic batch but do the whole thing by hand and every batch has more water than the scales were set for. so it is impossible to order a mix by what slump you want.
I have also worked on and around batch plants for both cement concrete and asphalt concrete batch mix.
Just so I understand? You're saying ALL concrete in Thailand that is mixed and sold here will never pass an inspection? ALL? Including all the high rise projects, highway projects and Skytrain building as well as the subways? And many more that I am sure I missed? ALL? 100% and you know this how?Quote:

Cement concrete is batched with different % of the materials when used for different purposes and to much water changes the charistics of the batch and finished material, as does the change of sand and aggregate.
And while we are on this subject of doing something right, where in the world have you seen concrete being poured around rusted rebar that has stood in the rain and weather for a number of years and then get the concrete put on it and never a thought of sandblasting the rods to original finish, rusted rods are no good in fresh concrete as they will do no good if the concrete can not stick to them but only to the rust scale.
Different concrete is mixed with fly ash, Gypsum, low lime Portland cement, higher lime or lime added, and it is not all just some water,some sand, and some gravel, but it is in measured or weighed amounts, mixed to a certain time and then poured.
You show me where that is ever done in Thailand and I kiss your ass till you bark like a fox.
There might be some work done here that is up to standard, but it damn sure was not done with all Thai supervisory people and Thai labor,, I have worked crews of Thai and they just do not seem to get it that shoddy shit will not do.
And you mentioned hyway projects,, now that is where the real laughs start at all the Thai fuckups, most don't last a week before they are digging holes in it to compact the subgrade and repour the surface.. what a fucking laugh
Sorry blackgang I guess I hit your "hot" button. But you still haven't convinced me that "all" concrete mixed and poured in Thailand would not pass inspection. You're very bold assertion that there are no sites anywhere here that meet the spec for that job. You even admit that there may be some work done that is "up to standard". I guess that means it would pass inspection. Maybe 99 percent is poor. I don't know! There is no way that you can prove your point unless you somehow have the ability to monitor every construction project big and small.. It's a waste of bandwidth to try and debate this. Lets worry about what's going on in our own lttle world and try to control what we can.

same thing on putting concrete road surfaces on the roads and streets thru our village, shit wasn't down long before it started to crack and sink in places, when they were pouring it they stomped the wire mat down on the ground so it wasn't even in the concrete, they just do not understand compaction either
But for any Thai workman, CLOSE ENOUGH IS GOOD ENOUGH.
