Driving in Bolivia

This is Bolivia's Stremnaya Road, aka the Road of Death, and won't be hearing too many complaints about Thai roads for a while...

I've taken that road twice, in the back of a truck that also functions as a rough bus- they just cram you in there with the sacks and other cargo. It is the road from La Paz to Corioco, which is a beautiful town. I believe there is a new, better road now- so the old road gets a lot of cyclists these days. Anyway, as the pic's show well enough, a wild and hairy ride- but beautiful

^ I'd have to dig out a load of old photoes and scan them. I'll prolly get around to doing some one day. Another thing, which hurts, is that when I split up with my wife in HK, I subsequently found out she gratuitously made off with a whole lot of my photoes! :( Many of which predated our relationship- so I'm not entirely sure what photoes remain, and which ones were filched.

I wonder how they shipped out all the rocks and soil they dug out or did they just dump it down over the side. Excellent bit of engineering, and the pics show it off great.. Imagine doing it at night!

Oops, my badi - wasn't a trip, just received courtesy of Thai Air...furthest I made it was to darkest Maxico.
