The Welsh - Fattest in Britain?

DON’T scoff, but the people of Wales have been found to be the UK’s fattest.

The valleys are positively bursting, according to a new survey, with two in five residents admitting to being overweight.
A further one in five describe themselves as VERY overweight.
The pounds are being piled on largely thanks to fast food, experts say — and not surprisingly Wales tops the list for takeaway fans.
On average people there eat almost two takeaways a week — nearly twice the figure for south west England. The north west has the fattest English people, with Londoners not far behind.
Scots do better than their image as the UK’s unhealthiest eaters suggests, although well over half do admit to being overweight or very overweight.
More than 7,000 people were quizzed about their weight and takeaway habits for online meal-ordering site Just-Eat.co.uk - Order pizza, Indian, Chinese, thai and fast food online from local menus for home delivery and takeaway. 1600+ restaurants to choose from in the UK.

Just-Eat chief executive David Buttress said: "Being from Wales myself, I was very interested to discover that the Welsh not only eat more takeaways but also define themselves as the most overweight.
"Of the many healthy-option take-aways, sushi seems hugely popular, particularly with students."
Britain has more takeaway restaurants and foodstands per head of population than any other country.

I used to eat at least 9 take aways per week, I aint a fat over weight slobbering fool though :)

Can't personally see how eating 2 take aways a week is going to make you a porker, basically it's how much you eat as in a big mac meal however disgusting they maybe ain't gonna do you a lot of harm, but for people who eat 5 big macs in one sitting that is another story, basically fat fooks over eat and that is why they are fat, hardly rocket science is it, if you don't want to be a fat fooker then don't bloody eat so much.

I think the post title is misleading "The Welsh - Fattest in Britain?" Just because they live in Wales doesn't make them Welsh! There are quite a few East Europeans in Llanelli. Also the "Valleys" are a number of industrialised valleys in South Wales, stretching from eastern Carmarthenshire in the west to western Monmouthshire in the east and from the Heads of the Valleys in the north to the lower-lying, pastoral country of the Vale of Glamorgan and the coastal plain around Swansea Bay, Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport - hardly the complete country.

I come from the East, so I'm nice and thin. :)

it is more a survey about how people see themselves, rather than proper body measurements

having said that, there are a lot of fat bastards there

Explains why rugby is so popular there though, people are too fat to play anything else.
