4th of July at D&G Resort

Since this was my last July 4th celebration here in Thailand for a year or two, I decided to get a little crazy. We ordered fireworks, food, drinks and about 125 people. Let's see what happens! :)

First thing was getting the tent and all the tables set up.

My idea was just to have a party and go about life. However, the locals whom I have know for over 8 years, decided to thank me for being part of their community. Well, the free whiskey helped also. :)

This lady happens to be the master at traditional Thai massages. Just ask MtD.

Since I am heading back to the states, I am not entering the TD photo competition this year. However, I think this shot could have been a winner.

Close but no cigar. Actually, she is my mother-in-law. However, the lady in the middle is her older sister. Quite a lady. For some reason she believes that she has to have 10 million baht in her bank account when she dies.

I have seen her bank account and she seems good to go.

Her immediate family is constantly pestering her to release the funds now. She always says no! :)

As a side note she once volunteered to help out D&G Resort. When we said no thanks, she was flabbergasted.:)

This is the oldest brother of my wife. He is really not that mean, but two years ago he had a stroke at the age of 52. So his facial expressions don't always show what he means.

At least that is what the wife tells me. :)

In reality this lady represents the heart of Thailand. In typical country style this mother of 6 has raised sucessful children. Along with the fact that her husband has been a mean old drunk, she has done okay for her family!

Great people shots HB. I have been watching your development there grow, and I just love the greenery you have introduced. I reckon you or someone has some background in horticulture or similar because it looks so well maintained and everything looks in place. Congratulations on a job well done. The atmoshphere there is reflected in those faces.

I have to admit that I was reduced to tears by the end. Sure I had provided the food and drinks, but these local people bought and donated much more than I could ever repay! :)

Total cost? Close to B40,000.

Value? Over B1,000,000

Beautiful story and a perfect thread. Hillbilly you're blessed in so many ways and I'm sure those blessings will continue. A green is on the way, but it pales in comparision!
