I thought it was just an urban legend!

I've just walked along kaosan after a trip to Suan Luang to watch the political mishmash (nothing dramatic to report). On kaosan I saw a mid-twenties farang talking to one of the fake ID and cert guys. I stopped for a quick listen. But the farang wasn't buying, he was selling. He took a pair of trainers out of a bag. 20 baht changed hands. Then he took off his watch and handed it over. Another 20 baht changed hands!

Until now, the farang guy outside MBK with his "I need 3000 baht to go home, can you help me?" sign had topped my list of bizarre downandout farangs in LOS

I've sold stuff down KSR before.....Shoes mainly, not sure what it is about LOS, but people are always throwing their shoes away....Can't walk through an apartment building without picking up at least four pairs......

I have though - Crap I didn't want, sold for 700 baht or some-such.....I spent it getting my hair braided and having a henna tatoo.

Even before hearing Wally's tale I would never buy a second hand sleeping bag - akin to buying second-hand underwear. Thinking back to my sale on KSR, I remember having to stand there why the guy went through his....'Well, you haven't really got anything good here' routine.....'CUT THE CRAP AND JUST MAKE ME AN OFFER YOU SHITHEAD' I screamed......in front of the mirror when I got back home.....then I went and gave the pillow a good kicking......

He has been here for ages. He reduces the plea by 1000 baht every month :confused:

Why did you give him money MD? I saw a Thai guy give him 200 Baht, and I was only stood outside MBK for 5 minutes. No wonder the fcuker has been doing it for so long. There are a million more worthy causes in LOS (or did you just want to get the cnut out of here quickly?)
