Suan Lum Beer Garden

Suan Lum Night Bazaar near Lumphini Park has a really good beer gerden with a great selection of draught beers. There's a big canvas roof that slides open when it starts to rain, which is a damn fine idea, too. I've been there a few times, but last week I actually remembered to take a camera (although I forgot to take lots of photos).

The place is about the size of a football pitch and has a large stage at one end with a TV showing either footy or Animal Planet hanging above the singers and dancers. Ther's also a telly at the other end of the beer garden. There are a variety of singers who do everything from Thai ballads to Hip-hop 'songs' going on about 'popping that muthafucker's ass', which is nice.

Usually, I don't get hassled when I go there, but this time we were surrounded by a load of waiters tryng to force their beer and food onto us. I wanted to drink Bass as German beers are crap, so I wandered off to find the Bass lady. And here she is...

The Beer Garden is surrounded by food stands selling a good selection of Thai food (there's some good sausages too). You need to purchase some coupons (near the toilets) and away you go.

Or you can be lazy and order from the food girl, but this seems to cost twice as much. As we were drinking, finger foods seemed a good idea; and it was!

The food is pretty good here and they also sell wine or cocktails if you're a bird or bat for the other team. From memory they sell Warstiener, Paulaner, Bass, Tiger, Heineken, Chang, Singha and another couple of German beers.

Well worth a trip if you're in Bangkok (and the Night Bazaar is not too bad to wander around either).

Pity you didn't get a piccy of the real 'hightlight of the place...

Placed has changed a lot since I was last there. Had a great time, no Bass, though they had them german beers. Thik I was there three/four years ago. they food was good but sure didn;t have anything like in them pictures.
Gonna have to get back down there for a day a or two; just to see how you poor urban folks gotta live.

Actually this thread could be quite a historical thread, the last thread about beer gardens in BKK, aint they gonna close them all down soon?

Hell we got year 'round beer gardens up here the Big C food court is the best maybe 40 beer girls wanderin' around, lots of finger food places, half the tables got them big beer tanks up on 'em lot's o drunks.

Same for me the last time I was there, them getting pissed at me made me pissed at them. Stayed for one drink and left. The food was shit as well.

Hadnt heard bout that Dog, but shit with Toxin it makes sense. Fruit me,everything I move here for save pussy is going, and the pussy is getting more expensive and not as nice to look at. Judging by a few threads in the forums.
