VW - seeking advise and recommendation.

A very good friend mine, who owns a 1994 VW Vento CL, 1,800 cc, automatic transmission and does not want to depart with the car (he is a VW fan), which still looks solid and new to me would like to know if he can upgrade or modify the whole engine and transmission system,which effectively means an upgrade on the suspension system too to the newer FSI VW engines with dual clutch transmission. Basically, he would be using the old VW Vento body, which he loves not to depart with or buy a newer model. Thus, is there anyone who is technically incline or mechanically incline have any knowledge if this is feasible and any idea which garage can handle this?

There is a VW specialist restorer in Pattanakhan Soi 30, he's about 500 M down Soi 30 from Pattanakhan rd.
I know he does engine swaps and mechanical work. The standard of his restoration work is very high. Have seen rusted wrecks rolled in their come out like new cars.
