Chonburi Police Bust Fake License Plate Scheme
Highway Police, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Phuridej, arrested two men in Chonburi for using fake license plates, following public complaints about illegal vehicles.
Mr. Theerawut, 32: Caught June 7, 2025, driving a black Nissan Almera with forged plates. He bought the car for 60,000 baht on a shady Facebook page. Charged with using fake documents.
Mr. Santisuk, 32: Nabbed June 9, 2025, in a white Honda City with fake plates and tax sticker. Bought for 70,000 baht via a relative. Also charged with using forged documents.
Seized items included cars, fake plates, and keys. Both suspects face 6 months to 5 years in jail and fines up to 100,000 baht under Section 268 of the Criminal Code. Police warn against buying unverified second-hand cars and urge legal vehicle transfers via the Department of Land Transport.
