Thailand listed among world’s top 25 emerging markets for investment
Thailand is among 25 countries worldwide ranked as top markets for foreign direct investment (FDI) projects and is also one of the top 5 countries trusted by international investors for their expanding projects.
Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira announced the national rankings at this week’s Thailand – US Trade and Investment Summit 2025, jointly organized in Bangkok by the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM), the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC), and Thai public-private sectors.
Pichai stated that Thailand is now ranked 10th in the FDI Confidence Index 2025 and holds the fifth position in a recent survey by Kearney, a leading global management consulting firm based in Bangkok.
He expressed his gratitude particularly to US investors for their confidence in Thailand, highlighting the fundamentally strong relationship between the two longtime allies.
He noted that Thailand’s FDI projects in the United States are valued at about 70 billion US dollars, spanning over 20 industries. He urged Thai investors to further explore two-way investment opportunities, especially in the US energy sector.
According to the finance minister, Thailand is transitioning toward an innovation-driven economy supported by government policies, including free and fair trade agreements, which promote a thriving business sector fueled by skilled personnel and advanced digital systems.
The minister emphasized Thailand’s commitment to prioritizing strategic cooperation and alliances with US partners in the long term, which should eventually lead to more balanced bilateral trade.
In 2024, one year before the 192nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Thailand, bilateral trade was recorded at 74 billion US dollars, according to the Board of Trade of Thailand.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai suggested that amid the changing global landscape, there are four key areas for sustainable cooperation between US and Thai investors: green energy, food and health security, digital technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), and educational and personnel exchange programs.
