Tourists flock to Phu Ruea for morning sea of mist and first rays of sunlight

Visitors are pouring into Phu Ruea National Park to marvel at the stunning sea of mist and bask in the first light of dawn as temperatures begin to drop at the peak.


November 16 morning, temperatures at the summit of Phu Ruea National Park in Loei province dipped to a chilly 16°C. The sunrise illuminated the peak, creating a breathtaking sight that left tourists in awe.


The park’s head noted that the weather is ideal this time of year, with mist blanketing the summit and surrounding valleys each morning. The viewpoint at Phu Ruea’s summit offers an excellent spot to capture the morning mist, and the spectacle is expected to continue through the winter season.


Another popular location, Phu Pong Fan in Ban Bung Kum, Na Ho Subdistrict, Dan Sai District, also delivered a spectacular misty morning today. As the largest community forest in the area, spanning over 4,000 rai, it has been developed by locals as a tourist attraction, providing a vital source of income for the community.

Additionally, Phu E-Lert, located in Ban Pak Mun, Pak Mun Subdistrict, Dan Sai District, offers a unique view of the mist on its western side. The scene features two mountain ranges with the mist nestled between them, resembling a large river flowing from Thailand into Xayaburi, Laos. Dubbed the “Grand Canyon of Loei” by locals, visitors can reach this viewpoint via a traditional “e-tak” tractor ride, guided by villagers, which takes about 40 minutes from the village to the summit. From the cliff’s edge, tourists can enjoy a panoramic 180-degree view of the mist-filled valley.

Current temperatures in the region highlight the cool climate: Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary recorded the lowest at 14°C, Phu Kradueng National Park at 15°C, Phu Ruea National Park at 16°C, while Dan Sai District, Mueang District, and Chiang Khan District reported temperatures of 19°C, 20°C, and 22°C, respectively.


The natural beauty and cool weather are drawing nature enthusiasts to these breathtaking sites, making it a perfect time to visit Loei’s mist-covered peaks.
