South Braces for Intense Rain and Flood Risks As Northern Thailand to Feel Cooler Tem

On November 7th, 2024, the Thai Meteorological Department predicted varying weather conditions across Thailand from November 7th to the 13th.


Between November 8th and 11th, a high-pressure system from China will bring cooler temperatures and strong winds to upper Thailand, with temperatures dropping by 1–3°C. In the North, western winds combined with moisture from the South China Sea will bring thunderstorms, with heavy rain likely in some areas.


In the South, the monsoon trough and an approaching low-pressure area over the lower South China Sea will intensify rainfall, with downpours expected until November 10th. Wind waves in the Gulf of Thailand will be moderate, reaching up to 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms, and similar wave heights are expected in the Andaman Sea.

For November 12th to 13th, temperatures in upper Thailand are likely to rise slightly as the high-pressure system weakens.




However, morning fog and light rain may occur in the northernmost regions, while rainfall in the South will begin to ease. Typhoon Yinxing (Marce), currently near the Philippines, is expected to approach southern China and central Vietnam by November 10th to 12th, but it is not projected to enter Thailand, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
