Fabric shops in Chiang Mai slash prices on flood-damaged inventory

Dozens of fabric shop owners in Chiang Mai’s main market have been selling their flood-damaged stock at discounted prices, in an attempt to recoup some of their losses.


They were seen displaying their cloth on the pavements of Waroros Market, near their shops, which are still closed pending post-flood restoration.


The spontaneous roadside market is attracting many customers, as the blemished products are offered at a 50-90% discount.


It is one of the busiest commercial sites in downtown Chiang Mai but, due to the recent severe flooding, many shops, and their inventories, were damaged.

Navin Batra, who owns a fabric shop in the market, said that this year's flood was abrupt and unexpected.


He added that he did not prepare adequately, resulting in damage worth over 20 million baht to his products stored in the warehouse.

bought lots of him in June.I imagine you need be pretty poor to use wetted textiles with varying tensile strength, prob ok for pj gals or dessing dogs?
