Earth moving event
I will be needing to build up some rice fields near Chiang Mai so that the land does not flood. It will probably need about 40cm over all the area, about 800sq m
what is the best way to do this? Just get some earth moving company to deliver, at around B300 per 5 cu m, or hire a truck and collect?
anyone have experience in this?

Just get the company to do it, normally grading is include in the price, although your price seems way too low.
-
that is the price we have been quoted, maybe not including grading, just delivery

You really need to be careful what kind of dirt they put down. You might buy good soil and end up with crappy clay and rocks.
-
true. Mind you, crappy clay and rocks would be Ok for the base, with good topsoil in garden areas
some parts will be for an access road, some for walkways etc, so good soil would not be necessary there
-
Tend to disagree. I learned this the hard way. Good soil on top and then crappy soil underneath, bad idea.
The problem is when the trees or bushes roots begin to grow beyond the good soil. They hit the crappy clay and then they will grow crappy.
Trust me. At 6 months everything looks fine. One year later, the plants are still being teenagers.
Trust me. This has cost me money to replant trees and bushes with the proper soil underneath to support their growth. :)
Trust me. I am from TeakDoor....

be interesting to see how it all gets graded since the house are already built... let me know when the day is so I can go watch.

yeah FF, bring your shovel
and I trust you HB, the poor stuff was for areas like roads and paved ares, not the garden
