Is it galangal? A cousin of garlic common in Asian cooking.
On closer inspection no.
I think they are these....
“Kra
bok seeds,” kind of nuts known in Thailand as “wild almonds” as they look like the almonds from a species to tree native to the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent
and North Africa,
Krabok.....

Ahh, its just some seeds then:)
Hard to find so my missus sez. I'm not surprised. The Thais'll steal anything that's not nailed down.
They're roasted broad beans.
Did they originally look like this before you got your fat mits on to them?

Trees plentiful in Roi Et. Roast the seeds and use wood to make charcoal.

Mexican peanuts....
Next!
there is next to no similarity to almonds... being something of an expert on almonds, bitter almonds and marzipan.. a friend told me they are lovely, same almonds,, now im rather partial to almonds so bought some, mistake, they are waxy and u can feel them clogging ur arteries as they go down. nothing like almonds. yes they do look very similar to fried broad beans, and the broad beans are palatable.
^ you did roast them first right?:)
So it's case closed on Dill's nuts.
But WTF are these?
We had a palm tree die in the garden, and when I chopped it down the trunk was full of these. They look like the witchetty grubs the Aussies love to eat, but even our chickens wouldn't touch them.

Cicada grubs.
Thanks for that. There must have been two or three hundred in the one tree. No wonder it died.
You're not supposed to eat these ones - just sayin.
When even the chickens turned them down I thought it a pretty good indicator!
Do you even Asia now KW? 5555
