Cooking with convection ovens

After reading Mendip's nice steak pie thread, I saw a convection oven for sale in Tesco's today for 919 baht. I am tempted to get one but I need some persuading as I've never used one before and I've never seen one used before (apart from in Mendip's thread). So, a few questions for the Teakdoor cooking community...
What do you think of convection ovens and what are your experiences with them?
What can you cook with them and what can't you cook with them?
What are their pros and cons?
TIA
