Heavy rainfall expected nationwide until September 10

BANGKOK, 6th September 2018 (NNT) – The Temporary Crisis Center expects heavy rains will continue across all regions of the country until September 10 and is paying particular attention to rising waters in the Nan and Mekong rivers.

Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of National Water Resources and Director of the Temporary Crisis Center Samroeng Saengphuwong, advised residents that heavy rain is still expected throughout the north, northeast, east, central and south until September 10 with 38 provinces likely to experience harsh storms.

Rivers in the north, northeast and east have all risen considerably after storms took place in almost every area of the nation at the start of the week. Tributaries of the Mekong and Prachinburi rivers have all been swollen due to the downpours with the Mekong River particularly likely to rise considerably over coming days. Nakhon Phanom and Mukdaharn have been told to anticipate overflows while Bueng Kan and Kongjiam district of Ubon Ratchathani have been put on close alert.

Locale dependent.

Nonetheless, been a fiercely and heavy season more so than the norm - flooding/high water about the same.

With the exception of the somewhat parched portions of Buriram, Surin, and Sisaket.....

Real time, out my way no flooding, not saying less rain, just no big heavy downpours, tropical depression rains, the one you can't see the road when driving.

Some years we are village locked, 2 bridges on the only road in, sometimes a couple of days, longest for me 2 weeks horrible no beer left in the area.

Some years my back yard is a lake and you could canoe down the road out front, been to Ubon and usually there are people camped on the mun river bridge, none this year.

Have rubber plantations, sometimes one plantation is under a meter of water, not this year, crossed the Mekong a week or so ago, didn't look flooded.

Steady rain and run off may cause problems in other parts of Issan, but no real troubles in Ubon Provence that I've seen.
