DDPM warns upper Thailand to brace for more bad weather conditions
BANGKOK, 25th February 2018 (NNT) – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation is warning residents in the upper part of Thailand to brace themselves for a few more days of bad weather.
Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Chayapol Thitisak said today that a total of 1,988 people in 47 districts of 21 provinces were affected by the latest windstorms, which hit Thailand on February 21 and 23, when one person was killed.
Mr. Chayapol said that the DDPM has already collaborated with related City Halls, military units, local administrative organizations and agencies to rush assistance to all victims.
He added that necessities, a food and water supply as well as roof tiles and materials needed for home repairs would also be sent to those in need in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s regulations.
In addition, Mr. Chayapol said that unfavorable weather conditions will continue for a few days in Thailand’s upper part, where thunderstorm, gusty winds, heavy rains and even hail are possible.
He went on to say that provincial DDPM offices have also been instructed to be on high alert and keep residents informed about the situation.
