Bomb in Lashio (north Shan state, Myanmar) kills 2, injures 22

We usually only hear about the fairly recent violence in Rakhine State, bordering Bangladesh.

But there is ongoing conflict and fighting in areas of Kachin, Chin, north Shan states as well, plus no-go areas in those states, as well as south Shan, Wa Autonomous region, Mon, Kayin and Kayah states, all down to ethnic unrest or dangers due to drug manufacturer/smuggling.

Go to Taungggi, the main city of Shan state, (just 20 Km from Inle Lake) and all is fine. Go east 20 more Km and you're stopped by the police/army from proceeding any further...
