Beautiful rock formations revealed after water declines in Mekong River

NONG KHAI, 29 January 2018 (NNT) - People have flocked to the Mekong River in Nong Khai province to see beautiful rock formations, which become visible during the dry season after water levels recede.

The Nongkhai Hydrological Survey Center has revealed that the Mekong River declined to 9.19 meters below the embankment. The water level is low enough to reveal unique rock formations that have been submerged for months.

The formations are known among locals as Pan Khod San Krai, or the Grand Canyon of Nong Khai. The rocks can be seen over a five-kilometer stretch across Ban Huay Kho, Ban Nong, Ban Phu Khao Thong and Ban Muang communities.

Perhaps it's a stock photo of ugly rocks because they couldn't get a photographer to the beautiful rocks?

Better hurry if you want to see them the chows will likely want to blow them up to get their ships past.
