When I was a kid, I was never allowed to wear shoes in the house. Had slippers for that. Even the tiled kitchen floor was off limits.
My brother has a farm style kitchen so OK there. Just not in the house.
Visitors allowed in with shoes. But if removed are done so inside.
Shoes allowed in places of commerce and business. (which I find strange here)
What do I miss. Not much as I repeatedly say I came here because it is different. Not so I could reminisce about what isn't here.
Found some Filipino candy not far from me that is different.
