Sleepy Police Officer causes traffic chaos on Pattaya Third Road.

Here’s a crazy story now from Pattaya Third Road which occure don Thursday Afternoon. Police and rescue workers were called to the location after receiving information of a pick-up which had mysteriously stopped in the middle of the road. The driver was either asleep or in need of medical attention and a gun was spotted on the back seat of the cab. Rescue Workers attempted to rouse the man and after a time he woke up. Police officers spoke with the man who was identified as a Pattaya Police Officer. There was a suspicion he was intoxicated, however it was decided that he should be escorted home for some much needed sleep. We are unsure if the case was officially logged and if disciplinary action by Pattaya Police will be taken.

i've seen plenty a thai fella asleep at the wheel in the middle of the road b4. dunno if there where copppers or not but

Look the Thai police work very hard.
Sometimes double shifts and at weekends.
Whats the big deal if one of their overworked men needs to take a little nap.
No-one was hurt.
Pattaya would not be the safe and secure haven of respectability that it is today without brave men like this.

Yes, it's rare to see them in the middle of the traffic.

Thanks goodness this didn't happen in the UK

We just drive over a 'sleeping policeman' back home

Not only brave but also forward thinking - note he left his gun out on the back seat ready for use by another in case there was any trouble.

Maybe he fell asleep from worry wondering how he's going to pay for that nice new 850,000 baht pickup truck he's driving :rolleyes:

It's really a normal thing. I sometimes fall asleep too at red lights.
