    Kamala road block

Anyone else come across this today ?phuket news: 'Random' drug testing continues in Patong...

Was taking the young'n to surin beach today, came to Kamala approx 12.30 pm.
The main road was compleatly blocked. Some sort of protest going on, Had to take back road to get to where we were going.
On the way back had to do the the same, Which was ok till we got about 4 km past kamala head'in for Patong. Another road block, this time no side roads to use Turned back and thankfully made it past 2 other road blocks to get home !
    My me penn haa for us, But I did see tourist's with baggage standing at the side of the the road looking pretty concerned. { planes to catch etc }

    Kamala roads blocked by protesters

About 400-500 Kamala residents blocked the intersection near Phuket Fantasea yesterday evening.

PHUKET, KAMALA: Roads in Kamala have been blocked by protesters since yesterday evening.

About 400-500 Kamala residents gathered at an intersection near Phuket Fantasea at 8pm on Tuesday evening to protest the local police station's handling of crime in the area.

The protests began at 7pm when a crowd gathered outside the station.

The protesters later set up tents and loud speakers at two of Kamala’s main intersections and look set to occupy the areas for several more hours.

    OK.....this is the story.

A local boy from the next beach over, Bang Tao came over to Kamala and stabbed a local boy from Kamala.

The Kamala police locked the offender up, but, his dad was a high ranking official at another police station. He was sprung from jail and his dad took him away.

The Kamala residents were scandalized. The local cops told them to go to the Or Bor Tor to see some bloke, but, when they got there the Or Bor Tor official did a runner.
They were given the run-around by the cops in Phuket Town. They really tried to get this resolved by every means possible before they decided to put up road blocks.

The end result is that the offender is now back in jail and the road blocks are gone.

This is the short story and I may have got a few minor details wrong.

I forgot to mention that they were letting through all ambulances and passengers going to the airport.

Basically, they had had enough of the local police and their bull-shit.

God for them to protest. I hope something positive, however microscopic in size, come of this.
