    A Phuket Trip

Hello, recently we skived off work and school for a few days to visit the little known island called Phuket.

We stayed at Splash Resort something or other. Connected to a water park which was handy.

3 bed suite with kitchen and private pool. I was quite fond of the bath when sober enough to not drown in it.

Hotel is near the airport so really enjoyed watching the planes come in at the viewpoint.

Sitting room where we did a bit of sitting.

Private pool where I listened to Brit Pop and got sunburnt.

    Look it's a bath.

Also did a day trip to Koh Hey (I think) which was lovely. Clear water and coral with plenty of fish. Stopped along the way for a swim as well.

    Lots of snacks about

I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

Very nice! I didn't see any BK wrappers laying about though.

There was not a fast food chain (on grab) within 10km.

    I nearly perished.

Loads of Eastern Europeans. Friendly enough but I wish they wouldn't wear Speedos.

Not much going on nearby the hotel but Coconut Restaurant was decent and was a big hit with everyone. Mini mart next door did a decent trade as a beer in the hotel was 150thb.

Well whatever flicks your switch, but I am pretty sure they would be arrested if they didn’t wear them.

You really struggle with the concept of time passing. I am not at this exact moment in Phuket.

And armstrong didn't post at 10:45.

But, great post apart from that.

We took our kids there about 15 years ago when it first opened. They must have been just about your daughters age. It hadn't even been fully landscaped yet and accommodation was scarce. We drove up from Kata for the day. Really a fun day out and plane spotting was fun.

I could have spent all day watching the planes come in. Still wouldn't have managed a decent selfie though.

You'd be hooting at LB's on Bangala rd ?

It's nice to have a bit of variety. People assume the caravan was a cheap option but it's the same price as the Hard Rock Hotel.
The hotel this week was 40k but there was 6 adults and 2 kids for a few nights.

    Nice to have different experiences.

    agree^
started taking the kids to guesthouses and homestays when im somewhere where we will be out and about all day.

they enjoyed the change of pace even in very basic digs in places like Sangkhlaburi etc.

also got 2 bedroom house for THB 800 per night in Lampang which had been bought by the very basic B2 hotel

sure they would enjoy a tent or glamping pod given the chance
    we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...

Have you done this before in Thailand? How was it?

I did it once in the tropics (Colombia). Never again.

I've taken the daughter camping in our garden several times but it's just too damn hot. I run an extension cord out to the tent and plug in a fan or two so I guess that could be classed as glamping, but it's still too hot.

The last time we went camping I woke up alone because the daughter had sneaked back to her bedroom during the night, the bugger.
