My pool pump 1.5 HP for 8,000 Baht, bought at a pump specialist - not a pool specialist - no problem over many years. Similar pump (or maybe the same with another name - Chinese product) I saw is now on sale separately also at GH, few sizes. Also their filter is OK - I am having over 15 years, working even after flooding.

Copper Sulfate can be bought at chemical shops for 150 Baht/kg sack.

My simple DIY equipment and the daily experience for my daily swimming throughout the year I have described in my post in Construction section, where actually this discussion belongs.

Also describing handling of my troubled source water (very strong ironized) what in all literature is as impossible for swimming pools.

Spending many hours studying what is available re pools, found so many rubbish, mostly with the hidden agenda (of the ones who run the show): buy what we advise you. Otherwise, our shops go bankrupt (with CS care and no pH care)...

Vacuuming - and backwashing - I cannot think to do it just once a month, especially when using the wonderful floculator/disinfector SaanSom. When seeing the outlet I am having onto garden (what obviously not everybody can see - direct somewhere into a sewage?), seeing after few days what's going out. Thru such a filth I should force my good water for one month long?

If you decide to try using copper sulphate in your pool, you mix it in a bucket of water until all the crystals have dissolved, pour it into a garden pressure spray the larger the better and spray it over the entire surface of the water in your swimming pool
Still no sign of algae in our pool, it works
About 4 years ago i bought a 4 litre container of algaecide from a swimming pool company for 1250 baht on special with no list of ingredients on the container but it was the same colour as CV mixed in water and only for one treatment of the pool
I can make the same amount myself for less than 100 baht

The thread is nothing about construction, its about algae in swimming pools in Phuket so its in the right forum
I have not vacuumed our pool since starting this thread, i just asked my wife if it needed doing and she said no, and i agree with her
IF you want to vacuum your pool every 3 days that's fine with me, vacuum it daily if you want to
I bought a 25KG sack of CS of Lazada for 2250 baht delivered ( enough to out last me) 90 Baht a KG not 150 baht a KG
No reason to get upset if someone does not agree with you, this is a public forum after all
    Have a nice day

We have had a lot of heavy rain recently, for one period of 48 hours almost non stop which had diluted the amount of CS in the pool and the algae started to come back
I put another 200 grams of CS in the pool and it was gone in 4 hours

Over 2 months now with no green algae problem at all, and i have not had used any aluminum sulfate, Alum or Sangsum in the pool as well to clean the water
The water is clean and sparkling using 0ne 3 inch/200 gram chlorine tablet every 3 days
I also add about 200 grams of copper sulphate to my pool every month because its diluted by the monsoon rains

Aluminum sulphate is a flok mate and cheap to buy, not sold by pool chemical companies of course because its cheap, last 50kg bag i bought 550 baht
That was my second 50kg bag and i have not had any problems with my pumps (2) or plumbing by using it

SaanSom as in Thailand is named, is a miraculous material, an ancient disinfector, used in villages where they have problem with iron content in water, very easily here obtainable - unlike as in Europe. The many good features can be learned of when googled.

In my thread about affordable swimming pool I had showed how miraculously the SaanSom can cure within 5 days ironized water treated by chlorine, while the "experts" tell you: "throw the shitty water away and take a water from the city pipe". (how clever, it had taken 3 weeks to fill up my pool with that water from a bore well, the city pipe is 2 km away from me.)

Its been over 3 months now since we have had a problem with green algae in our pool, copper sulphate/sulfate has fixed the continuous problem i had before

I have not had to used aluminum sulphate in that period because the water has not turned a milky green caused by algae floating in it , it no long happens and its not needed, the water is clean and clear

I put 1 200g/3 inch chlorine tablet into my dispenser approx every 3 days to sanitize the water and kill all dangerous bacteria, i use a dispenser because when i put the chlorine tables in the skimmer box the stainless steel leaf basket got rust stains on its welds, this no longer happens

I put a extra 200 grams of copper sulfate in the pool about every 6 weeks because the tropical rains and back washing the filter dilute the copper sulfate in the pool water

No need to super chlorinate or buy expensive algaecides from pool companies, reduce your chemical costs and time wasted by approx 80%

I bought a engine powered blower for 3650 baht to keep the pool surround and general yard area clear of leaves and dust, it takes about 10 minutes to do this including the street in front of our house, over a hour by hand brushing

I have a 45cmx45cm aquarium net attached to 3 metres of plastic water pipe to remove any debris floating on the pool after strong winds so it dos not sink to the floor of the pool

6 months with no green algae problem in our pool now, i just put 200grams CS in my spa which recirculates the water from the pool if i see any signs of it
As mentioned before if you put to much copper sulfate in the water your hair will turn green, which has never happened here
Its great if you have dry and itchy skin as well, cures that problem very quickly

That's only in case you give the CS 1 -2 kg in... (BTW, any hair still left?)

19 months now since i started using copper sulfate, no problems with the water turning green and if it starts to i just put 400 gram of CS into the pool
chemical costs are way down which does not make the swimming pool service people happy including the ones who post on this forum who sell expensive treatments that do not work anything like as well as copper sulfate and are a lot more expensive
copper sulfate is not dangerous to use compared to chlorine which is very dangerous if not handled and used properly

Now as a pool owner I will enjoy following along. Our pool is a "Saltwater" pool which cycles through a Chlorine generator. I have been monitoring it daily since we filled it a month ago. I bought a nice Salinity monitor and have it dialed in at 3000 to 3200PPM. Up this point all I have added is three 25kg bags of salt ( 155bht per bag) to achieve the optimum salinity level and have the CI level near optimum. I have swam almost every day and open my eyes underwater all the time. Water is Crystal clear.

I started out running my pump 8 hrs a day on 2 different 4 hr windows. I slowly have been reducing it and now run my pump only 4 hrs a day ( 2hrs in morning from 7am to 9am and again at 3pm to 5pm).

new pool you should not any problems with green algae, but when it does appear in about 3 days the water will start to look like pea soup
when you first see GA that's when you use the CS to get rid of it before it gets out of control

^That's true. Once the water caught the algaes it takes few days to cure it - by chemicals (whether those or other) and by 25h/d filtering with frequent backwashing.

However, it mostly happens in springtime when the nature around is blooming, quite different than in wintertime.

Surely a salt water pool regulates algae differently. Also, frequent and continuous use isn't recommended.

algae grows in the sea/ocean mate which is much saltier than pool water with the correct amount of salt in it
continuous use of what is not recommended and by who ?? i hope your not talking about pool businesses
copper sulfate is the best thing i have ever bought to keep our pool water clean and clear

2 years now since i have had a green algae problem
if the water starts to turn green i add 300grams of copper sulfate and it clears the water up in 3 hours
reduced my yearly chemical costs by about 70%
