Have you tried recently to do your 90 day report online? My office hasn't done it for years so just to waste a few minutes I went on the website and bingo. It was up and running. I still can't believe it as they've been stubborn right from the start. Saved me a 200 km round trip.

It's also for re-registering your address if you have come back from abroad and still have the same address.

Why would you need to do that?
If you're coming back from abroad then you have filled in the TM6 Arrival Card and stated your address there.

    Thems the rulz.
If your address notification doesn't match what's in the computer when you go to do your annual extension, it's a 2000 Baht fine.
Phuket strictly enforces the re-registering of your address. If you have been to another city in Thailand and stayed in one of the bigger hotels, the hotel will notify immigration that you are staying there. Once you get home, you are supposed to re-register again.
Yes, I know it doesn't make sense. The mooted idea of all foreigners wearing identity bracelets shows you there mentality. They want to know where every foreigner is at any one time. Crazy.

If you come back from overseas and the address you put on your arrivals card is the same as your registered address at immigration you do not need to register your address at the immigration office again
Also if you have a Thai wife or partner and are traveling in Thailand let them register in at any accommodation you stop at

Wrong! At Phuket immigration you MUST re-register your address EVERY time you come back from abroad, whether your address has changed, or not. They need to change the TM6 number.
I got this from a senior immigration official at Phuket immigration and it was confirmed by an immigration official at Phuket airport.

As I go to Japan every few months, I always re-register my address when I come back. Guess what, they re-register. Not once have they said it wasn't necessary.

Your post, in the words of Trump is FAKE NEWS.

Don't ask me, ask immigration. It's one among many illogical rules.
Do you even know wheher the address from your TM6 card is entered into the system computer? I have my doubts.....

Thousands? More like tens of thousands which is why I totally agree with you. Something that petercallen didn't think about.

I believe that to be wrong. I think the rule/law is that if you stay anywhere other than the address registered on the TM 30 then you have to let immigration know within 24 hours. Even if it's just going to BKK for one night.

No YOU are wrong. I got this from Phuket immigration, both in the town and at the airport.

Here's their phone number. Give them a call and find out first-hand.
    076-221905.

Or, how about this from the Phuket Immigration volunteer's web-site, please note the last line (you too, petercallen):-

    Address Registration
Every foreigner entering Thailand has to be registered at immigration within 24 Hrs of arrival.
Tourist who are staying in hotels don’t have to do this as the hotel is responsible for the registration.
Foreigners who are staying in private accommodations (visiting family/friends or renting house etc) have to be registered by the landlord or owner of the premises.
All other foreigners have to make sure for them self that they are registered.
Foreigners owning a house/apartment but leasing the land need the information from the landowner to fulfill the address registration.
Company’s (Hotels etc) can set up an online immigration account so the address registration can be done online.

Short term visitors have to be registered after every entry in the country or change of accommodation inside Thailand.
Long term residents have to update the address registration after any permanent address change or after returning back to Thailand.

The TM 30 form - All you need to know about it and why it matters to you

The official law is that, even without leaving the country (so with the same departure card number), a foreigner still has to be reported every time that he/she changes to a new place. The owner of that place has to report the foreigner, even if it’s just for 1 day. So if you’re making a trip out in the countryside for the weekend and you’re staying in a guesthouse there, your stay for that weekend has to be reported and once you return to your primary place, you’ve got to be reported again.
However, in practice many Immigration officials say that's not necessary and you can just stick to the first report.

You're quoting from a source referencing Chiang Mai immigration. I'm talking about Phuket immigration (the sub-forum this post is in should give you a clue).
As we all know, regulations are interpreted differently from immigration office to immigration office and sometimes from officer to officer within the same office.

I've supplied a telephone number. Call them and get back to me.

    you are wrong.

all those cards are taken to a huge office deep in the bowels of suwannaphumi airport, where dozens of long trestle tables groan under the weight of large boxes filled with the cards.

minions are constantly arriving and leaving carrying filled boxes and literally hundreds of civil servants are sat head down under glaring fluorescent lights at row upon row of desks and are busy clacking away on computer terminals inputting the info from the cards.

it is a nightmarish place. it is bureaucracy gone mad.

i was taken down there a few years ago after noticing an incorrect date stamped into my passport by immigration when exiting thailand.

i had already passed through to airside before looking at my exit stamp and noticing the mistake, when i pointed the mistake out at the boarding gate they quickly called immigration and i was immediately given a special pass and escorted by a worried looking official down to the bowels of the airport and into this enormous office to have the mistake eventually rectified by a grumpy immigration official who blamed the whole thing on me. the immigration officer who had given me the incorrect stamp was recalled from his post to sign the correction in my passport. after the correction was done ,my pass was stamped, and i was escorted back airside, passing through the holding area where luggage was being searched in front of their sweating and mostly swarthy owners.

When doing a 90 day report all you are doing is confirming your abode that you are registered at. I notify them of my abode by completing a TM7 every year. What a load of bollix.
