90 day reporting at Phuket town

Its still very easy to do your 90 day report at Phuket town immigration, no forms to fill out just your passport with the previous 90 day report in it
A new wannabe volunteer farang immigration officer was the only holdup, he had a row of medal ribbons on his shirt that looked like they came out of a cereal box

Always have been for many years but they are unpaid volunteers, most do not last very long at the job

I'm getting an image of "Land Sheriffs" for non Brits they are the new railway "police"- a useless bunch of cretins with GBH convictions that stop them from joining the real police force. They'll probably vape on you- just imagine your appearing on "Star's in their Eyes"

10 years ago i was a member of the tourist police volunteers in Patong, i joined because i was bored and wanted something to do and no work permit was required for doing the job, the french boss of the volunteers a that time insisted you patrol Bangla road twice a week in the evening and carry a extendable baton, handcuffs and a pepper spray, i asked him why as we were there to assist the tourists not beat them up, i refused to patrol bangla road while i was armed and offered to work in the paong office and assist Aussies who got into trouble which i did 3 times in the 3 months before i resigned from the job because of the way it was run

They had about 20 members at that time and only 4 of us were doing the job for the right reasons, quite a few of them were led to believe that they would get a visa for doing the job, i brought this up at the monthly meetings and the boss cocky admitted they had been misinformed and visas would not be supplied
the VTP and VIP were to separate groups and that time and did not like each other and probably still don't, there a a few members of both groups who do the job for the right reasons but a lot do not, they remind me of the parking meter inspectors in Perth Australia who hang around a parking meter that is about to run out of time so they can give out a parking ticket fine, reminds of the moderators on Thaivisa and how they do their unpaid job
