During the Songkran madness, M'Sahib tend to hibernate for the duration, however on this occasion we ventured out for food on Monday, the last day. Headed for a place where she'd have a lunch with some girlfriends a couple of weeks ago. Situated at the end of quite a long lane just to the south of the Karon Viewpoint. The place has been built on an almost cliff position, with about 30 steep steps to get down to the business area. They've formed different shaded seating areas, with the main dining area being a platform that enjoys sweeping views along the coast to the north.
The menu was quite extensive, though we were told some of the items wouldn't be available due to suppliers being on holiday.
A plate of onion rings kept us going whilst we made our choices.
An injection of som tam goong kept M'Sahib occupied whilst waiting for her squid rings
Phuket noodles with seafood
and some prawns wrapped in rice paper
Meanwhile, I enjoyed some scallops topped with minced prawns and cheese, then grilled
followed by a very good lamb shank in a Massaman curry, with some roti on the side.
Of course, no meal would be complete without the essential mango and sticky rice.
Not the easiest of places to get to, though I would recommend making the effort. I think it could be particularly pleasant in the evening, with the lights of the coast as a backdrop. It also has about 4 or 5 hut type rooms for accommodation, though I didn't ask what their rates are. There are also more steep steps that go down to a small beach.
Some general shots.
