I've been by here many times and have heard good things. Food looks great!
I was recommended to eat at Gastone for Italian food. I was not disappointed with the food. I had their gnocchi with bechamel sauce which I highly recommend. Their pizza also looked delicious. I was recommended by another Italian who owned a coffee shop nearby. Do you know the restaurant?

I do not know how to send Photos from my computer only from my smart Phone which i post on Facebook
sure there are, go to 3rd floor central mall, the book stare has english computer books as does the book store near the circel in Phuket town

I agree with some of ur info but some is off base. I live in Kamala an have for the past 19 years ( except for 2 when i was in the states or Cambodia), lived in Patong from 84-96.
Seen all the changes from a sleepy island with 1 traffic light to what it is now

    my observations,
Traffic in the high season is terrible ,especially with the bus, trucks and minvans.
Construction allover the island, Drove the road from central to Chalong the other day 45 minutes around noon, than back up to Kamala, they have fucked Chalong circle an it willb e fucked for years they way they are working.
Prices on the island are higher than just about anywhere (except Samui) i figure 20% or more for goods, local food 25-35% higher than the north, Issan and pattaya
Haven't been to Patong in years at night so no idea but I have a farang friend here that is a Police vol there 2 nights a week, says its busy all year round and plenty of Russians, french causing troubles.
Phuket has been re inventing itself the whole time depending on which tourist are coming, before it was the Europeans, now its the Russians/Chinese.
You want quiet place, plenty on the island north of Patong, you want full on party Patong is ur place..

Its still a great island to live, raise a family or retire to, compared to 30 years ago you no longer need travel to Singapore, Penang or Bangkok to buy things, everything is available here, just need plan ur time if u need go to Phuket town or over Patong hill to town..

Paradise to one.... is hell to another

For a lot of tourists the prices of food and other things will be cheap. But for the citizens of Thailand phuket is expensive. I know a lot of people that are from other regions and they pay 30 baht for a noodles soup. Here in phuket they pay 60 baht. This is just one example of many. So Phuket is compered to other regions in Thailand quite expensive to live.

I lived in Pattaya for 15 years and probably went downtown once a year the last ten years I was there.
Amazing the preconceived ideas people hold onto, you never hear there are too many golf courses, only about the endless hookers!
When I choose to live in Pattaya it wasn't because it was a lot cheaper than Phuket (which it is) but based purely on the weather, Phuket gets near twice the rain that Pattaya does!

It may be expensive for Poorer Thai's the same applies to poorer foreigners but there are a lot more Thai's and foreigners now having holidays in Phuket its still a very cheap destination for Aussie tourists only a little bit more expensive than Bali and both places are still is very popular
12 years ago the main package holidays offered by Aussie travel agents were Bali. Penang, Phuket and Hong Kong
Now every country in the world who are after tourists money are chasing them and there is a lot more competition for tourist dollars. pounds, Yuan ETC
River cruises, ocean cruises, train and bus trips, safaris as well the usual beach destinations, the choice is huge and growing all the time
No reason to the same place year after year as a lot of people did previously
Still a great place to retire to with its own international airport
