Nice trip BLD.
Phuket ain't as bad as most say, you can still have a good time there as you have shown.

Yeah it does get a lot of negativity, hadnt been to phuket for about 7 years and hadnt been at all to phi phi. Both spots tick all the boxes if your with a wife and small kids, Still the problem of hot beer to deal with though, Fortunately im no stranger to beer and ice, when in rome and all that>

A short stroll to the other side of the island brings you to Loh Dalum beach, looked to be where the banana pancake eating brigade were hanging there hat, nice beach and bars here, one of of them came close to selling me a reasonably cold bevvy

Was on Phi Phi earlier this year to visit some mates from UK over on holiday. They loved it.
Mates wife got attacked by the same monkey in the same location.
Hope you paid your Bt20 'arrival' fee. I drove down to Krabi and got the ferry across from there, The Krabi ferries are nowhere near as posh as yours.

Yeah, there's no avoiding the arrival fee, but if it goes towards a bit of maintenance and general up keep it's no biggie really, seems that monkeys quite notorious

1500 baht will get you a longtail for 4 hours sight seeing


They are noisy and not all that comfortable

Better to cough up 3000 and get a speedboat to yourself

THe limestone karst jutting out of the bay is really quite spectacular

Next up was a stop at the picturesque maya bay, we arrived early and just as well as it was starting to fill up with speedboats from phuket with day trippers rapidly





















The Boat guy reckoned that in another hour there wouldnt be a square inch of sand left to sit on when the day trippers over from phuket arrived,
Time to bugger of and find a quiet place for a snorkel

This place was starting to fill up as well , the boat guy reckoned the next bay was a must see, forget what it was called.

Next we took a spin to monkey beach.





The Tourists in this boat didnt find them so amusing when a big fucker jumped in th
e boat with them

This resort looked great and seemed to be a bit quieter than tonsai




Kids were getting hungry and starting to whinge so we called it a day and headed back

we had 1 more night in phuket and had booked a place in kata beach called Metadee resort and villas, bloody lovely it was


Besides having a big pool the room also had its own little plunge pool,




This place was set way back from the road and beach but they would run you back and forth in golf buggys

I had arranged to meet up and have a drink with Toslti in Hooters bar patong that night, Couldnt get a baby sitter at short notice so had to corrupt the kids and bring em along

Certainly looks like you packed quite a lot in the few days that you were there BLD. Lots of contrasts, but that's the attraction of Phuket, something for all tastes. I note you took up my recommendation for the seafood at Rawai's Sea Gypsy Village also.

So many people write off Phuket in the disillusioned idea that it is just hookers, beer bars and rip off joints.

Then along comes beerlao and proves that you can actually have a family holiday here.

I agree that it is more expensive than some Thai coastal resorts but Phuket has a lot to offer.

You certainly put me on a winner with the Rawai seafood recommendation pag, that was exactly what I was looking for, fresh seafood right by the sea, can't beat that.
To be honest I had pretty much written Phuket of as a holiday destination 7 years ago. The only reason I decided on a return was because it was easily and cheaply accessed from udon and I got the accommodation for nix, Totally changed my opinion of it as a holiday destination now, really enjoyed it. There's something for everyone really, couldn't help but notice there was even a wee bar scene in Rawai if life in the fast lane over in patong wears thin.

Phuket haters are no different from any other unnecessarily negative haters on the interweb. Their own inability to enjoy life and see the best in things and places leaving them crippled with angst and bias.

Phuket has EVERYTHING you could ever want from a holiday and then some.
